Picked up Chainheart Machine a few months ago, but didnt really give it any dedicated listening time. Then, after all of the songs being in my random mix -- I noticed how much I loved it when I landed on a track from this bad boy. This last week I have been listening to it near constantly.

So the question is... which Soilwork album to pick up next?

I'll 2nd those 2... the rest of their stuff is a lot more clean/melodic and their new album just plain blows

I liked Figure Number Five, try it... their latest sucks, don't go anywhere near it.

Agreed, but don't shun any of the albums.

That's odd. I'd think anyone who liked FNF would like Stabbing The Drama. I like both.

I still can't figure out if Chainheart Machine or Natural Born Chaos is my favorite.

Stabbing the Drama could have been good if :
- it had a more fitting production (this sounds too much like an US band)
- it had more great guitars (like those one FNF)
- it had better songs...

so, yeah, it's kind of similar to FNF, but far from up to it.

Steelbath Suicide, and then PP. after that it gets significantly more melodic.

...Or you could just try Dark Tranquility, a much superior band.

A Predator's Portrait is probably their most well-rounded and balanced album, in my opinion of course.

A Predator's Portrait was the album, along with COB's Hatebreeder that got me into melodeath in the first place.

Figure Number Five had better vocals, better guitar parts, better synths, more guitar solos, and less predictable songs. The only thing that Stabbing the Drama has is better drumming... and even then Dirk Verbeuren is constrained to pretty simple stuff

I personally like the melodic aspect of Natural Born Chaos VERY MUCH, but A Predator's Potrait would be the number one recommendation considering you loved Chainheart Machine. Steelbath Suicide is also a great.

I 2nd this notion.

But, if I must stay on topic, A Predator's Portrait is the answer.
