Does anyone ever really listen to all these suggestions we give them?

Good Question!

Arsis. The songs I've heard from "A Celebration of Guilt" was pretty damn good.

Guys I'm a serious metalhead. If I did not intend to use suggestions I would not have wasted my time in asking for them. So, once again, I appreciate all the posts.

I'm definately going to check out the following bands: Unanimated, Gates of Ishtar, The Forsaken, Disharmonia Mundi, Canopy, Throne of Chaos.

Best melodic death metal out there IMHO.
Of course also, Carcass and others that were mentioned here.

So far I’ve listened to Canopy and they are definitely heavier, generally slower with more brutal vocals than your average melodeath band. Also a little progressive maybe. I like it. Their full length album should be good.

Arsis are fucking great. Probably the one of the best melodeath bands out there right now. Easily the best from the US

Arsis, Non-Human Level, Anata, and Yyrkoon are probably my favourite melodeath bands right now. All of them have extremely sexy guitar parts

If you honestly want to hear a recommendation, I seriously think you guys should check Garden of Shadows out. They aren't active right now, but Oracle Moon shouldn't be too hard to find. It's melodic death with originality, atmosphere, and killer songwriting that puts Gothenburg clones to shame. Tons of time changes, riffs, and really beautiful music with deeper death metal vocals than you are used to hearing in melo-death.

I'm glad others mentioned Wintersun, though. While they aren't 100% melodic death, they are certainly an amazing band that I am sure most melodic death would be able to get into them.

Yeah, too bad they quit. The demo was better than the CD though...

We just finished the drum recordings, and bass starts today!

Yeah, they were supposed to be on-hold (some members had to finish college), but I received word from a friend that Mary fell down a flight of stairs and can no longer walk. I'm not sure whether or not this is true, considering the fact that they don't update their website and I haven't read such things.
