Peccatum had it's moments, but I could have guessed this much with Ihsahn's comments on the band. He didn't seem to care for it much. Some husbands have to take their wife shopping or watch chick flicks, Ihsahn has to make albums.

I'm glad to see them back to their own things, I think Ihsahn can do a lot better without her influence, and I can enjoy Star of Ash since I'm not just waiting for the Ihsahn parts to start the whole time.

Damn, just as Peccatum was getting really good. :( I do like Star of Ash, and I expect good things from Ihsahn's solo album, but still ... I'll miss them as a duo. ... I held off on getting their last EP because I thought an album was soon to follow. Guess I'll be picking that one up afterall. :?

Pity, but I see why.

BTW, when these two have kids they'll be pretty flipping talented, no? The future is bright...

Isn't he working on some BM supergroup with Abbath called "I"? or something along those lines?

Ihsahn is a Marvelous Musician; in the level of Bethoveen, Bach and all other Fabulous Musicians of the 18 Cent. I truly cannot wait for this release.

I trust you're intimately familiar with all the works of the great composers of the various classical eras? I mean, why else would you say that, right?

Well then, as you must well know, most of said notable composers' works are composed of a fair amount of throwaway material. These guys were amazingly prolific, but how much of their work is really notable for every single note? Hell, people didn't even start getting passionate about music until Beethoven's later years. Before the Romantic era even the great works were largely boring. Dainty, completely undaring, neatly structured. They were pleasant instead of beautiful. Those guys are overrated to an incredible extent. Some people suck way too much classical cock just because of the age of the works, but they never question the material in the same way they would a modern song or album. The same thing happens with anything old, whether it was written 500 years ago, or 20. As far as I'm concerned, there are many modern composers that at least equal a lot of the old masters. Some may deal in different instruments, but they make astounding music all the same.

Why would I respond if didn't have an opinion on the matter. An opinion I of course base on personal experience.

If you want to discuss the principle matter that classical art is not 'automatically' better than modern art, you are completely right. The century in which a piece is composed is not an indicator of the quality as such. Modern artists can be as compentent as classical artists and sometimes even more so.. With all due respect for Ihsahn's work he just doesn't qualify..

Call that classical cocksucking or whatever you want...

I'm not going to hold Beethoven's discography up relative to Ihsahn's as that would be tiresome, pointless and uninteresting..

And unfair, hah. Beethoven is one of the few composers whose endless praise I would say is fairly justified.

Either way I was just wrong about your objection. I had you figured as a "no modern composers will ever measure up to the greats" kind of guy, instead of just an "I don't like Ihsahn" kind of guy.

I was just glad we were talking about Beethoven and not Mozart.
