I'm just curious about what everybody here thinks of them.

My opinion of the band is a little different: I like The More Things Change and Through The Ashes of Empires, don't much like The Burning Red or Supercharger, but also don't really like Burn My Eyes either.

Agreed. Robb Flynn should have quit after the awesomness of Vio-lence.

I really liked their first album. Seen them open for Slayer back then thought they were good. Unfortunately, they have gone down hill since then. Their next album "The more things change" I didn't like, it just wasn't very good. And after that they wentinto Nu metal territory, and I did not follow. For god sakes what the hell did Rob do to his hair? He turned into a metro sexual. Anyways, I hear their new album is ok. Jury is still out on that in my opinion.

Looking back at their first album there was only 2 killer tracks, those would be 'Davidian' and my personal favorite 'Old'.

The band just boils down to a big dissappointment for me.

i used to like them more...

the first album has a few killer tracks, especially Davidian and Blood For Blood.

The More Things Change... was SHITTY, i mean it was fucking HORRIBLE. the songs dragged on and on for like 6 minutes, fucking boring, and the fast ones were like 5 minute intros and a 30 second speedy riff. no thanks.

the rapcore stuff.. acutally... i like a few songs off the burning red. seriously. but just a few and just a littl bit.

i've been hearing great stuff about the new album and the video i saw kicked ass, guess i'll have to check it out.

nice cover songs though... Battery... and the "Witching Hour" cover with Tom and Kerry from Slayer.

Not that it means anything, but I think Burn My Eyes is one of the classics of 90's metal. "Davidian" is my favorite track, but the album as a whole has a certain consistent feel to it that I really enjoy. Excellent soundtrack for lifting weights in the gym...

I have only 3 cds by them, in general I like them, not love them, but they are pretty good I think. Their albums sound very different from one another. The More Things Change to me is kind of industrial with all kinds of weird drilling sounds and Ten Ton Hammer is heavy as shit and the whole album is really heavy, but it was not an easy listen and not very polished (I think this albums always makes me feel uneasy somehow, but I like some creativity on it). The Burning Red I think was a lot more polished and listenable and more interesting vocals with a little bit of rapping on it.

I used to like Burn My Eyes a lot. I don't like it as much anymore but there's still a couple of awesome songs on it. The More Things changed was more of the same. Couple of cool tracks, not much else. With Burning Red and beyond they started to suck the big one in my opinion though.

I wonder if I'm the only person who noticed that even on The More Things Change, Machine Head did some semi-rapping towards the end of Struck A Nerve (The "So C'mon, c'mon, c'mon c'mon" part).

Rob Flynn is a treacherous fuck and should quit metal. Machine Head to me is the equivalent of a retard slapping a metal head in the face. its retarted music "posing" as metal.

They sucked, suck and will continue to suck. They played part in commercializing metal and therefore do not deserve my credit.

where exactly do you draw the line at commercial metal? at more than 500 records sold?

seriously this black metal obsession of yours is getting annoying. Metallica and Pantera were simple and commercial, not deserving your respect despite their importance (undeniable), yet when Jaden says Burzum sucks (not saying i agree with him, mind you), HE'S an idiot. screw you.

the stuff after the debut (though most people still seem to like that boring plodding Change album) i hated, but the first one killed, and apparently so does the new one.

I have to admit, one of my pet peeves are these metal fans who like to show off what big metalheads they are by saying any somewhat popular metal band sucks, and then trying to compare them unfavorably to the most obscure, unknown band they can think of. Seriously, do you (not you personally, btw) have to be so damn isolated from the rest of the world just because you think that makes you "unique"?

I was talking about the thing that machine head meant for metal, this in crediting them for triggering new bands to evolve. Since IMHO they are among the bands that triggered things as Rap-metal and commercialization, they don't deserve my credit. Azrael, commercialization in black metal is something different, and has nothing to do with commercialization of metal. Since you are not into BM, leave that out.

In honor of Dead Machine's format.

I like Burn My Eyes

I like The More things Change

I didn't like The Burning Red/Supercharger

I like Through the Ashes of Empires

Machine Head were a lot cooler when I was just getting into metal, as were Meshuggah and Sepultura. Now they all just sound decent, but are really take it or leave it.

they are not among the bands that triggered rap-metal (which I have nothing against) it has been triggered a good while before Machine Head.
