Brahm, Aura Noir is thrashy black metal. a black thrash attack, or something. quite good :D

Bathory in Blood Fire Death and Requiem also thrash quite hard. the older albums too, but the sound is lo-fi.

..............................................those are not BM Stubby...

here's a few bands I like : Emperor, Negura Bunget, Deathspell Omega, Taake, Noenum... I prefer avant-garde BM though... 8)

NP
Max Richter "The Blue Notebooks"
(great ambient/classical music album)

I thought Negura Bunget were crap! Are they any good?

hooooo yeah !!! try them :D

Seriously awesome.. One of my favorite bm of all time.

I know them personally, we come from the same town in Romania, and their ex-keyboard player is a very good friend of mine; it's just their music ain't really my cup of tea. But if you say they are recognized in the field of BM, then , i believe you.

All right. I am not a black metal fan. Keeping in mind that I have listened to many of the "classics," like Burzum, Immortal, Darkthrone, etc... and even a newer band or two that has recieved high praise (Myrddraal), and knowing my thrashy tastes, does anybody have any reccomendations for a black metal band they think I might enjoy, or am I a lost cause?

Baptism - Wisdom and Hate
Vlad Tepes - March to the Black Holocaust
Bekhira - L'elu Du Mal

They won't be immediate favorites. They'll work you over, though. Baptism is some of the best I've heard to this day. Vlad Tepes has that raw, AWESOME riff, awesomeness, combined with some of the most original and heart thumping solos you'll ever come across. Also, you might wanna try this band Quintessence, who has members of Sauron. I haven't heard it yet, but they have an album, and I've been meaning to look into it.

You aren't a lost cause. You just need your thrashy elements.

Thanks a lot, man! I'll check those out.

Az: Yep, Aura Noir is quite an excellent band.

All the bands i listed, except Drudkh and Lunar Aurora have real metal elements, like old school death + speed + thrash + heavy etc. None of that melodramatic melodic 'cold' forest white power riffs which i've grown mostly tired of already. You'll appreciate all of them. Real black metal to me comes from the early 80's first wave and bands that follows that path. I could upload a few tracks from them on the site later........ if i get my internet up by today.

Hell yeah. I like Rotting better. Speaking of black thrash,
Sextrash "Sexual Carnage" may be the most wanted Black thrash album on my list right now.

Hah Sextrash rules \m/ !! Sexual Carnage and Funeral Serenade is black metal from the highest order. I'm still looking for their albums myself, only place i seem to be able to get them is from Cogumelo records themselves. They reformed sometime ago, great news.

Excellent, and thank you. My internet was down for a bit, but I'll start checking out all these bands today.

I can't think of any. My favorites are the ones that sound sad in a simplistic way, you know, "seven tears..." by nargaroth and "transilvanian hunger" by you know who. Hmm, recommendations anyone?

You do know that they have changed names to Hades Almighty. Their latest "The Pulse of Decay" is very good.

I realised yesterday it's a year to the week exactly that I bought Darkthrone - TH after having my brain raped by the Noenum samples Misha sent me. Thanks again, purty-face.
