HIT it, but not as good as Dance of December Souls - I just love that album for some odd reason....

Indeed! That album is still in my personal top 10. Hell, even the riffs are depressiing! "Jiva Elohim Meth" is fantastic as well. I highly reccomend getting the "Brave Yester Days" compilation, it has all of their hard to find stuff(EP's) in one nice 2 disc set. Plus pictures of Lord Seth and Blakkheim in corpse paint and bullet belts!

Sounds great, but I only found one store near me that even has Katatonia listed as a band that they "carry" CDs for. It's a lie.

Haha nevermind that, but yes I'll be sure to check out that compilation man. :D

ok

but I don't get why... I adore Katatonia (especially Viva Emptines) while My Dying Bride, at best, bores me....

I was going to get all pissy but then I realized it was TIE.
I'll console myself by remembering that I don't idolize the Beatles.

I don't idolize anyone (not even John Coltrane)... and I do believe MDB is one of the most boring band I've ever heard... serious :|
even Boris in its longest/more-ambient track is more captivating....

Do you like the saxophone sound?
For some reason I cannot stand it.

OK here are two things more enjoyabe than Viva Emptiness right off the top of my head. (Yes, I owned and listened to the album many times.)

First off is Viva Las Vegas.

Image

Shit just look at this thing. It has Elvis, and Elvis owns. What does Elvis own? Everything. PLUS those dice are freaking huge. Not to mention that chick is kinda O.K. looking in an "eyesore's mom" sort of way.

Viva Emptiness- 0
Other things that start with Viva- 1

Next up is Vive La French Toast. OK it's "vive" instead of Viva, but that's close enough in my book.

Image

This is taken from an IHOP menu. As you can see from the red circle, French Toast is the shit. It flat out beats every other breakfast out there. Not all crunchy like waffles, yet more interesting than flapjacks.

Viva Emptiness- 0
Other things that start with Viva- 2

So there you have it, an objectional and unbiased review of Viva Emptiness. Oh yea and Saxophones (or however you spell it) suck shit.
