that's why I picked Crimso, Sabbath and Kraftwerk..

King Crimson - progressive experimentalism
Sabbath - methul
Kraftwerk - cold ambience, synth

I guess I could add Jaco Pastoriosuoutosuutous to my list to sum up the more colourful side of music along with my love of bass.

but adding stuff like ulver, emperor etc doesn't add anything to those stalwarts, even if I really like ulver and emperor. that's just how I see this thread of course.. :D

fuck man I'm listening to Insomnium. In The Halls of Awaiting. I bought this record about 2.5 years ago and I still fuckin' enjoy it! That does not happen with a lot of records. ...And now I think I'm gonna piss some people off :D !

Dude, ULVER (Nattens Madrigal) and EMPEROR (fuckin' all of them) defined BM.

damn right, although burzum's my favourite. but if you combine Sabbath's pioneering of metal with Kraftwerk's minimalism and KC's desire to do something never before done, then IMHO you have all the potential ingredients for BM. :)

I have a sense that somebody here likes Led Zepplin.

Anyway I kinda get it now so :

Thy Catafalque + Zyklon B + Mystic Forest + Anaal Nathrakh + Burzum + Darkthrone + Ulver + Deathspell Omega + Leaviathan + Taake + Darkspace + Nokturnal Mortum = Complete Über shite

I tried to cover most of the BM approaches.

Devin Townsend + The Postman Syndrome

Progressive, technical, singing, screaming, explosions, wall-of-sound, dissonance, dynamics, atmosphere, and just overall awesome.

Maybe throw in Dillinger Escape Plan for my taste in extreme musical prowess.

Well by meaning Led Zepplin is the shit, I meant they are one of the classics of the time being.

It is a known fact that every metal riff was written by Tony Iommi. Not just Black Sabbath riffs, but every metal riff.

Yeah Jaco Pastorius kicked so much ass, one of my favorite bass players ever, a friend of mine used to play Portrait Of Tracy for warming up, such a beutyful song.

John Coltrane + The Beatles + Genesis + Iron Maiden + Fugazi :
1-Coltrane for the jazz & improvisations
2-The Beatles for pop and melodic genious
3-Genesis for progressive rock, melodic genius & experimentations
4-Iron Maiden for heavy metal & heavy metal & heavy metal etc... and because it's so much fun !
5-Fugazi for the art punk attitude

I think that sums pretty much everything... 8)

NP
Drums & Tuba "Vinyl Killer"
UP NEXT
Devandra Banhart "Cripple Crow"

And every rock riff ever written. They went back in time and left notes for LZ to find.
