Along with my new Pelican EP, I picked this up:

Stone Temple Pilots - Purple.

Much better than Core so far.

Purple? Is that the self-titled? Was it called Purple? Anyway, they never beat Core to me.

I also picked this up: Early Man - Closing In

That's what everyone calls it.

You 'n Stefan are both nutsy nuts. Core is uneven as hell, has like five great songs and the rest are average or crap.

Tiny Music doesn't have the same flair or spark that their first two have. Purple is like the maturing songwriting of Tiny Music plus the riffwriting of Core; the whole package.

I love Purple and I love Core too (Purple is better though) but Tiny Music is so special to me I don't expect you to like it as much as I do or to understand why I like it so much...

I like Scott Weiland's solo album too, unever, certainly, but some catchy tunes and a good deal of experimentation on a classic pop rock format (which doesn't happen everyday)

I actually like all their albums, but I don't think they ever sounded like they did on Core again. No. 4 is their worst, Shangri-La Dee Daa wasn't bad either.

No. 4 has what, two good songs? The single from it was decent, though I can't really remember what it sounds like and am not going to fish it out of my collection to remember.

I haven't picked up Shangri yet, should I at some point?

Personally, I have a great deal of hope in the next Velvet Revolver album. You know how it is with sophomore albums, they're either groundbreaking or terrible.

indeed... shitty album...

ever heard their side-project (without Weiland) Talk Show ? I haven't heard it in a long long time but I thought it was pretty sweet...

Quote:
While Scott Weiland spent the late '90s in drug rehabilitation and working on his solo album, the rest of Stone Temple Pilots -- namely guitarist Dean DeLeo, his brother Robert on bass and drummer Eric Kretz -- formed Talk Show with Dave Coutts, formerly the vocalist of Ten Inch Men. The group had begun rehearsing as early as mid-1995, though the debut Talk Show album wasn't released until September 1997. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

I disagree on Scott Weiland's solo album.... it's not perfect (far from it) but it has pretty good moments. but I'm not surprised you didn't like it, it certainly is not the kind of music I see you enjoy

check samples from Talk Show here : TALK SHOW - Ring Twice/Peeling An Orange (two sides of the project, STPesque & poppier)

It may not completely suck, but overall I wasn't impressed. If it were good, I'd totally like it. I can dig on shit like that, I just didn't like it much.

I don't know, that Talk Show stuff sounds decent. Nothing I'd run out and pick up, but I'll grab it someday. Thanks for the link.

I just picked up this:

Early Man - Early Man (EP)

There's a song on here called "Fight" that sounds like Kill 'Em All shit, but stoner rock style. It's great!

Thin Lizzy-Live&Dangerous
-Thunder&LIghtning

Thunder&Lightning is pretty heavy, but i imagined it heavier;it actually sounds a lot like Renegade(the previous),but has only one non-heavy song-The Sun Goes Down(great song btw).Too bad there's no more Thin Lizzy albums after this one! This band is magic!
