I'm sorry, I won't say it that much any more... I still listen to metal though... Black metal included.

Kind of cool. A professional anthropologist (which I'm taking a course in right now) write a full-fledged documentary about heavy metal. Too bad this probably won't be released here in the states.

Oh, and by the way, that Mayhem video reminded me of the outro for the album 1977 by Ash (a Scottish alternative band). Hearing them belt out "Fuck You!!!" in those accents always cracks me up (no offense to anybody here on this board).

well that's like awesome but i won't be able to see that ever. I can say "if that movie ever gets to any theater here I will shoot myself in the head with a watergun til i die" without any fears of that ever happening.

If it comes to the U.S. I'll be sure to see it. Probably won't, though. :(

Let's put it this way: You don't like Manowar, for example. But you can't really deny their metalness (no pun intended).

Metal is a style of music, inside which there is good and bad music. The majority is bad. Simple as that.

I don't like Manowar, but i'm not saying they're bad. I meant more along the mallcore line, hence my question, "What are we calling metal?"

I can agree that subjectively, 90% of anything in any given field sucks.. objectively it's not for anyone to decide.

Examples: pretty much any power metal band, most BM (although the situation with BM was worse in the 90's, when every other kid with a guitar started playing BM), most DM and so on...

I think Rhapsody, Dimmu Borgir and Cannibal Corpse suck, but they're all still metal.

Metal is a genre of music, not a sign of quality.

This is all subjective, of course.


The "as usual"-bit meant that you often seem to ignore other's arguments and repeat your own arguments ad nauseam when debating. But i quess that's just your style.
