The Sex Pistols were only useful for their notoriety; everything else is crap. All they ever had was an overabundance of vitriol, and vitriol alone does not a good punk band make.

Venom's more like Motorhead gone rawer, not really any Sex Pistols connection there.

They do have an awesome name.

Sex Pistols = crap musicians with catchy songs
Venom = crap musicians with crap songs

Conclusion: Sex Pistols > Venom

Dig a hole in the ground, oh, I don't know, say 7 foot down. Climb into it, and have somebody push the dirt in over you.

Buried Alive is that good a song you might as well go and experience to have ANY chance of matching the atmosphere of that song.

Pete: Shut up. The only atmosphere I get from a Venom song are three Geordies laughing like lunatics for having fooled everyone out of their money.

Aaron: Shut up. Someone who listens to Static X because they are catchy has no right calling out someone else who likes SP for their catchiness.

And yet, here I am, calling you out.

Funny how these things work, Zadok.

Bands with one good song are not good bands.

And yet I never, ever even said it was a good song. (It is, but that 'aint the point) It's the one with the most atmosphere-I'm just pointing out that there's more to Venom if you perhaps dig beneath the surface. *I'm so funny, geddit-dig? eh? eh? Buried Alive?*

1. So what's your point?
2. No, there isn't. Bathory did the same thing early in their (his) career a helluva lot better, with a helluva lot more atmosphere. Why listen to shit when you don't have to?
3. *Chortle*

Venom were influenced by the Sex Pistols. That doesn't mean i have to like the Sex Pistols if i happen to like Venom.
Following that same logic, Zad couldn't listen to thrash, death or black metal at all. All bands in those genres owe Venom big time.

My point is that your points for bashing Venom are all well and good in your books, but they have the ability to produce atmospheric music-They just don't want to! Venom is dirty rockin' hellish metal and that's all that matters. Why are you comparing Venom to Bathory? Venom mostly played silly satanic fun songs, with Buried Alive being the one of atmoshphere, Bathory played atmospheric songs, but did they ever play a silly satanic fun song? Hence I reinstate my point:Venom aren't all that meets the eye-just because they play stupid songs doesn't mean they have to.
