This is complete bullshit, or at least a gross oversimplification. No, being able to play extremely fast does not make a drummer great. Neither does the ability to play extremely slow. There are a ton of different factors besides just speed in mastering a musical instrument.

Yeah it is. It's a fucking lie that bad drummers told people to make themselves look good. Fast drumming > slow drumming. Period.

I know. I play drums. I can play most of the slow songs right away but I'll be dead before I manage to play like Sandoval or Frost or Mounier or Trym or....

Extremely fast playing is difficult. Anyone who plays an instrument knows that. But extremely slow playing is difficult as well: try keeping a steady beat at something like 40 BPM!

Right, but if you try hard you can play that. But how bout 500 bpm ? That's nothing that practise can do. You have to have it in you. And that's what I call talent.

I call it sport at best... you cannot be über technical if you're über fast.. you're just über fast... or you're an octopus or something but then it's a totally different matter...

EDIT : check this out : http://youtube.com/w/drum-solo-by-kid?v ... rum%20solo

OH MY GOD, IF I SEE ONE MORE PERSON POST THAT GOD DAMN TONY ROYSTER VIDEO, I'll KILL MYSELF.

Is that because he plays better than you, at the same age?

PS: Jazz pwns

He started playing drums when he was 3. I started a year ago. I hope he's better than me!

He's a good showoff jerkoff, however.

I like drumming that fits the music, not a fill every 1.2 seconds.

Does make 'em original. Is Remission worth getting? Leviathan was OK, I found it got a bit boring after a while, however.

They're like the CoF of Sludge, good for getting into, but far better stuff out there.

Remission is heavier, less melodic vocals.

I think his drumming does fit the music, but obviously, that's just me. Yeah, he shows off a bit, but if you've got it, flaunt it I say.

Oh, and agreed with Radagast about the difference between Remission and Leviathan.
