Name:
Sortilège

Country:
France

Members:
Christian "Zouille" Augustin (vocals)
Didier "Dem" Demajean (guitars)
Stéphane Dumont (guitars)
Daniel "Lapin" Lapp (bass)
Bob "Snake" Dumont (drums)

Discography:
(1983) Sortilège
(1984) Métamorphose
(1986) Larmes de Héros

Style: traditional heavy metal with NWOBHM influences (first 2 releases)
---

Sortilège is a legendary French band. They played in the 80' and released three albums. Two of them were recorded both in French and English. Their style evaluated from heavy-influenced british heavy metal on their first EP to their own unique heavy metal presented on Larmes de Héros.

An awesome singer, great guitarists and drummer.

What can I say more? If you like old classic heavy you will enjoy Sortilège.
---

Samples:

Sortilège - Sortilège
Sortilège - Majesté
Sortilège - Messager

more on http://www.sortilege.prv.pl

And also a cover of Messager played by a French heavy/progressive metal band called Manigance.

Hi Messager

I will listen to this stuff as soon as possible (yeah, I know, I promised  )

But as far as I can see, and of what you say about this band it can be a nice piece of jawbreaking Metal.

But that language... :? I hate French language

I know Chuck (from Death) was a big fan of them... I had the chance to see them live 2 times and they were indeed a good band... I still think TRUST is the best 80's french metal band...

their debut album (the one I sent you David/Holy_Terror) is their finest imo...

I think Trust can be considered the father of French heavy metal but their music is more hard rock...

As for Death and Chuck Schuildiner, riffs in Evil Dead clearly came from Sortilège's Amazone.

I personally like Larmes de Héros the most.

oh wait, I did send Blasphème to Holy_Terror, not Sortilège... ever heard of them ? if not, do try their debut !

and, yeah, you're right about Trust.. they're more like Tygers Of Pan Tang or Samson, with a punkish hint (Bernie's singing) which brings 'em closer to Di Anno's Iron Maiden... and, Antisocial is Anthrax's best song though it's a Trust cover ! :P

Of course I know Blasphème although I'm not sure which of their albums is better - the first or the second one. The band is very nice indeed.

Haha. Fuck political corectness!

I've got nothing against French. Just the language. You know, people may not like Polish, German or whatever. The attitude towards people is the most important.

And my ex-girlfriend studied French. We're not together anymore and I've got some negative feelings towards the language

I know and like them very much. :) I also listen to other groups such as Nightmare, Killers, H-Bomb, Manigance and so on...

The French band I've been looking for recently is Demon Eyes but I couldn't even find any songs/samples around the Net so I think it'll be quite diffucult to get in touch with them.

Polish is pretty cool.I've spent the new years eve in Poland, near Koszalin, with some polish friends, and it was pretty cool.We drank alot, and played metal alot;the first song of the year we played after midnight was Seek&Destroy,so i hope 2006 is gonna kick ass!

Angel in Black is a great song indeed! Also i like Fight the fire,Now or Never ,Back from Hell from the same album,Armageddon,Revolution,Mind Control from Black Sun,and The Healer from Devil's Ground.

Non, non, je suis polonais.

I'm just interested in foreign (different than English) music. I also adore the French language and accordingly French music.

If you know any other good French bands, I woudn't mind you sharing their names with me.

Sortilege rule, they are the french answer to Iron Maiden! Blaspheme also rule, especially their debut like someone mentioned. France had some great band's in the 80's, and it's great to see this tradition kept today with Malediction, Overstep etc.
