Lack of smiley doesn't mean I'm serious, my dear vegetarian. Just expect something to appear in my sig...

I must admit that "Slaves Shall Serve" of Behemoth does touch me emotionally.

I totally understand what you mean by "bizzare". The song is magical. Black Magic, that is.

I know exactly what you mean. The cymbals at the start, the melody, the growling, very special.

"the title ov this song is taken from "The Book of the Law". these words invoke powers ov individuality which stands against fear and oppression ov western civilization with all its taboos, fallen religions and political idols, stupid and mad masses - "twisted mob ov Jerusalem". I wrote wrote these verses after my journey across Egypts entirety which I made in April 2004 e.v. but direct inspiration was successful invocation ov God Horus I performed in city ov Cairo on April 8th, exactly 100 years after Crowley received the text ov "The Book of the Law"

This is what the guy from Behemoth had to say about Slaves Shall Serve. Weird huh ?

Maybe this explains why we feel strange while listening to it.

In all seriousness this song makes me feel powerful. It's not exactly the right word for it but I can't really explain it. Probably gives me an adrenaline boost.

Or those evil devil-worshippers put some subliminal messages in the song, making you want to sell your soul. Either way, Jeebus wouldn't approve.

After reading this I have no doubt that there are subliminal messages their songs. When this is played in reverse it prolly says "You're the slave you idiot, omfg lolzordz".

I think their base for lyrics is Mesopotamia and I also think there are little (if any) satanic themes.

Right now I'm listening to The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw, and its making me do that sad smile thing with the "I'm not far away from crying for a reason that I can't figure out" feeling in the pit of my stomach. That must count for something.

I have Crowley's Book of the Law. It's a great read, you should check it out. The song becomes that much better when you actually know what he's talking about.

Crowley ist krieg! 8)

Thanks. I've been meaning to read that for a long time, I only could find the e-book. I'll start reading it after this.

That reminds me, we should totally have a thread about Necronomicon but I didn't start one because people here don't seem to be interested in this kind of shit.

Now don't you guys go getting into Aliester Crowley! You'll wind up couch surfing druggies like my friend!!! :? I like how Nergal (That's the dude from Behemoth btw) actually puts some explanation into each song. I wish more bands would do that. I only have Demigod from them right now. The overproduced vocals really annoy me but I've been tempted to get some older stuff. So are they worth the money or shall I just stick to Nile and Decapitated??

As far as emotional songs go...I'd say just about every song a person likes inspires some sort of emotion or another, why else would you listen to music at all? I would never admit to getting choked up over a song (Metal Heads are bunch of softies after all eh?) but here's a few I found a bit "touching" at one time or another.

VNV Nation - Beloved - DarkAngel

Dragonforce - Fields of Despair - Once in a Lifetime

Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera - Hallowed be thy Name

Cradle of Filth - The Promise of Fever

The Black Dahlia Murder - Apex

For some reason, Iron Maiden's Brave New World album is very... touching, I suppose. It's just probably a personal thing.

Yea I thought about mentioning Wicker Man in my list. Unfortunately I still haven't picked up a copy of Brave New World because I am trying to get all the old albums first. There's probably a ton of songs from dozens of bands that I really got into, but that was just off the top of my head.
