You misinterpret me because you're taking my word as law. I never said it as such. Catchy songs can be annoying as fuck (The Ketchup Song, anyone?), thus not good in the sense of quality, but generally a catchy song is indicative of an actual good song. I've said it numerous time here, Britney Spears has a ton of good songs, but I don't like them one bit.

i'm not sold on the objectivity of "good" songs when the word catchy is so subjective.

personally I find top 40 bimbopop incredibly hard to focus on, so obviously I don't have a well musically-attuned mind. I'll go drown my sorrows by listening to non-catchy and by inferrence inferior music like, er, King Crimson or Esoteric.
