OK, so three supposed demos have leaked now, full versions of "I.R.S" and "There Was A Time" (aka "T.W.A.T."), and a short clip of "Better." I must admit, I'm impressed. It's definitely not old school, but it's also not anything mainstream. I just rock music, just slightly modern. Have you heard these songs? What are you thoughts?

"There Was A Time" kicks ass, but the first two minutes or so I'm not diggin' on so much. At about the 2:50 mark the song just takes off and it's really kick ass. "I.R.S." is another good song, much better than I had expected, but the verses are just a little off for me. I'd like to hear the end product to see what has changed, if anything, or how it sounds in all its glory. The clip of "Better" also shows promise, but it cuts out right when it's kicking in, but it still sounds really good. Very promising.

If Axl can keep his shit together and keep this album from completely leaking I guarantee it destroys all kinds of album sales records, especially if it's good.

THE SONGS

Discuss.

Hmmm... when I first saw this post I was going to go off on how horrible “I.R.S.” is, but then I decided to listen to it again. This isn't the same song I heard a couple of days ago (literally). The song I heard was some band that sounded like Creed (must have been some a bad download). This is much better, but still not as good as I hoped it would be. "T.W.A.T." is pretty good, and you're right about it getting awesome in the middle of the song. "Better" sounded kind of lame, but it is only a clip.

Right, but there's a ton of potential here. I wouldn't have expected it before hearing these tracks. These are supposedly demos, so things may have changed quite a bit for all we know. These are promising though.

So has Chinese Democracy leaked? B/c I'm downloading it right now, but it could be a rip off.

They're decent, but even I who only started listening to this band like a couple years ago can tell they're not worth the ages-long wait.

It would, however, be quite a relief if Chinese Democracy turns out to be a good album. I just don't think it'll be godlike, judging by these songs. Sad really.

Well, these are clearly demos. There's a drum machine, just like old Guns N' Roses demos, so if those turned out OK we'll just have to wait and see. I don't think it'll be godlike either, but I think it will sell like it is.

I never really thought GnR were special. Over-hyped average crap, despite the madskillz of a few members.

the Manic Street Preachers were heavily inspired by Guns 'n Roses, along with a handful of western philosophers and politicians, so I'm grateful for that.

have you heard the Manics' first two albums? there's gems to be found

Generation Terrorists and Gold Against the Soul. The Holy Bible's the third one and much darker in tone..

I think the manics have been around for fifteen years or so now

samples:

Slash 'n Burn from Generation Terrorists
Yourself from Gold Against the Soul
Of Walking Abortion from The Holy Bible (this has deliberately offensive lyrics, hurray!)

they have seven albums and two or three EPs so I hate to see people assuming these guys were always U2-style stadium rock, haha, their old stuff is amazing to me.

now returning this thread to discussion about Guns 'n Roses :D

This isn't the first time demos have leaked. I know some shoddy demos have leaked a few times over the years.

That is the first time I've heard someone call GNR 'average crap' but then again I only really like Appetite for Destruction and would probably describe the rest of the their output as over hyped with the odd bit of crap thrown in.

Appetite for Destruction actually took a long time to become popular (I was listening to it for months before it broke) so the over hyped charge is false for that one. And it is most certainly not crap.

Even Appetite! Sure, catchy songs, but what else?

I think Axl's an awful vocalist. Lyrics=bleh. Riffs, guitarist, ok, as I said. Attitude? Please. Cool Cover Means Nothing.
