I can understand, and agree with Amon Amarth and Bolt Thrower(jesus fuck the new CD is awsome). But Limbonic Art? I *really* like Limbonic, but is really 'Ultimate Death Worship' as good as 'In Abhorrence..'? And 'Epitome of Illusions', I mean, I know I enjoy "Sources to Agonies", but c'mon...how good is it really? :D

That being said, 'In Abhorrence Dementia' is a fucking masterpiece.

Now, next band:
Dark Tranquillity? Consistently good? Dunno really, I like all thier albums, but 'Projector' definatly isn't as strong as say 'The Minds I', or 'Haven' or 'Character'

Anyway, my 2c...

.:crast:.

Depends. The little I've heard of Projector I think is their strongest material...

I think Projector's very good.

And on Limbonic Art, they used to kickass in their older albums with their dominant and awesome keyboards, I agree with that, but the newer ones Ad Noctum and UDW they balanced the guitars and the keyboards and made a oerfect wall of sound that simply pwns.

Nevermore, definitely. I guess Death too except that I only have two of their albums (Symbolic and Sound of Perseverence) so I can't really give an accurate assessment of their earlier albums.

I'll also have to say Iced Earth. I don't care what anybody else says, The Glorious Burden is a great album.

Crap I forgot Death

Also Meshuggah should be up there, since they're awesome and keep progressing.

As for Dark Tranquillity, I think Haven is pretty lame - Projector has some of their strongest moments, but also some of their weakest in the form of the ballads on it.

The perfect Metal band would be a band that all of their released albums all rating at about 100/100, and they'd have to personify the spirit of Metal flawlessly.

To my knowledge, there is no perfect Metal band.

Well, that's why I said Cynic. All their records (well, the record) are really classics, perfects, and, being disbanded, there's no posibility that next album being crap.

I think is not fair to compare active bands not very old with great bands with 20 years (o more) in the road. If this question was asked to me before the release of "No prayer for the dying", I had said (and a lot of people too): Iron Maiden.

And that's the reason Death seems a really good ellection: A lot of really great albums, and, sadly, not possibility of a future miss.

I'm with Nevermore too. 14 years of band history, 6 albums and 1 EP, all great, and I really don't expect them to dissapoint in the future as well. And if we're to add their Sanctuary period (since Dane, Sheppard and Loomis continued Nevermore from Sanctuary) that would make for 20 years of activity and 8 great albums.

I can't think of any band to beat that, including Death and Blind Guardian, whom I'd choose as runner-ups.

I can't really pick Blind Guardian or especially Nevermore. Because I only have two Guardian cds and I have only heard one Nevermore song. So I guess I have some listening to do, but I will more than likely stick with Death as my favourite band.

Plus as I was talking about PainmuseuM earlier, I heard that they have a new album coming out, can anyone second this?

Well, I think this thread will make you change your opinion and give an oportunity to that bands, althought you'll still stick with death as the "perfect metal band". Quasi-perfect bands needs to give a try.

Well both Blind Guardian and Nevermore are on my "to-buy" list, and they were on this list before this thread but now I think that they will be the next cds I go and buy, but from what I remember it's hard to find Guardian around where I live. I have never really looked around for Nevermore, but as much as I can remeber I have seen some cds around.

They're pretty good, but I think Neurosis are better, although I think I need to listen to Isis some more

I disagree, Isis is more consistent. Neurosis's earlier albums are crappy, Isis's first EP is still awesome.

I wasn't too fond of Neurosis's first two albums or their most recent, but I prefer everything in between to Isis, even though I quite enjoy Isis.

Vehemence. God Was Created is the greatest album of all time. Their other two albums were MORE than exceptable for me. Consistancy is relative, and a good set of albums ON TOP of the greatest makes them the perfect band for me.

I have listened to God was Created a few times now and it is very good indeed.

I'd have to say iron maiden is my perfect metal band, as i intentionally ignore anything except the first 7 albums, which are awesome. Before AYDY? i would have said bodom, but not now.
the dillinger escape plan have never done anything shit imo. plus theres like a million bands where i only own 1 or 2 cds, but from what i have theyre perfect, for example enslaved.

Well, second fav after ITNE but a high quality album. The personalities involved just 'have it' so they may experiment but will never produce low quality.
