Anyone heard of them? Progressive death with jazzy influences. I'd recommend them for fans and haters (Dead Machine) of Opeth alike, if your objection to Opeth is that they're "predictable." These guys sound like how I would imagine Opeth to sound if Akerfeldt dropped acid, hit himself in the head, and went a bit schizophrenic, all at once. In a good way.

Sample tracks can be found at their website

Got one of their albums but haven't really listened to it much yet. (D'oh). They remind me more of Ephel Duath than Opeth though, at the moment.

Listening to clip now....not bad, as Rio said more ED than Opeth.

Another good jazz-metal band is Alarum. Samples there, I've got the newest album, good stuff. Think I prefer Alarum to your band, Kayla.

I checked out Alarum, Zad. They didn't really grab me, unfortunately.

Philistines. Just because they're Australian doesn't mean they can't make decent Atheist-like jazz metal.

*sigh*

Go back to your Immortal, then.

Same here, this is not bad, but I will take Alarum any day of the week.

Thesse guys are awesome!!! I think you described them perfectly, the Ephel Duath comparison fits well - sort of like if ED did an Opeth remix lol.

I've heard Alarum, and they have all the elements I should love about tech metal, variety + complexity + ok songs + good clean vocals, but they just don't do much for me.

these are the guys with the cure for NAS, right? Their frontman, Takeshi Kitano, directed the f*ck out of Hana-Bi.

I actually like this Farmakon, even if I'm not a fan of Still Life/BWP era Opeth, which they are up front about loving(Sound more like Opeth than Ephal Duath to me). I'm shocked I like this band, must be because they are Finnish!

Alarum are definitely good musicians, but their vocalist actually bothers me.

Thanks for bringing Japanese Film into the discussion.

any day i can work "Beat" Kitano into a metal post is a good day. Notice I refrained from mentioning Dolph Lundgren and Keanu Reeves? That, my friend, is called maintaining composure. Like how Beat kept his composure in "Violent Cop"...ohhh, I double-dipped!

I will check out this band, though. Ice-T doesn't guest star, does he?
