Let's go back at 1989. There was a young boy that really loves metal, and, well, there's just one group that are the metal kings. Twice in a row, in the KOM tour, they come to his town. And he goes to the two concerts, and meets diMaio and company in the tour bus. I (he) has somewhere a photo of his encounter with the kings of metal.
But he discovers that his set in live is not as strong as his releases shows. That they spend the half of the concert saying nosenses, and chasing girls, and doing things that really have not relation to music.
And a few time after that boy goes to a Monster of Rock festival with Anthrax, Helloween, Metallica and Maiden.
Well, Manowar are very special for me for what they do, but when it refers to music... BG (that I have seen 3 times live) are better.
And BH, SOTH, IGR and HTE are still cd's I listen, but men, I prefer SOT, TOTTW or IFTOS.

Well, they are. When you strip away the layered effects and pomposity, BG are very average musicians. Their songs remind me of that line from Life of Brian, "He's making it up as he goes along!".

Did you listen to other BG albums aside from the last one?

Yeah, I've listened to them all. There are some really good bits such as Bright Eyes, Battlefield, Precious Jerusalem. But overall not really that great. But I've bashed this band enough in the past and I know how much people here like them, so I'll lay off.

For a third option I'd go either Pagan's Mind or Human Fortress (I really hope the latter haven't split up).

Most of IFTOS songs are just as good as Bright Eyes. Maybe you just need 2-3 more listenings. Try and give at least that album another chance, it might grow on you.

I would have to give the advantage to Manowar. as much as everyone rips them they are unique. Nobody sounds like them. They also have that metal spirit that makes them special. They are the band that got me into metal in the first place. They are also the only band that actually makes me feel good everytime i hear them. While I have moved on to much more tech music - Manowar are still the Kings. I have every Blind Guardian album as well and I like them but I cant listen to them as much as i listen to manowar. BTW I have seen them both live and Manowar still wins.
