"Flamingo," the demo version is far better, in my opinion.
As for Megadeth, I don't really care much for the last few, these "return to roots" albums. Sort of like a band trying too hard. I'd rather the Countdown or Youthanasia (their best album) or Cryptic Writings stuff. Sure, not as fast or heavy, but better quality songs.
Though I definitely don't want Cryptic Writings part 2, I'll agree here that what Megadeth were doing with an album like Youthanasia was much better than what they've done in their past two (Youthanasia is seriously a fantastic album). I really have not been impressed with Megadeth over the past while- as I wrote earlier, each album seems to have a few good songs and then a lot of crap. To do the Metallica comparison: I'd take Death Magnetic over the past two Megadeths. I'm hoping this one will be better.
But UA and TSHF are a lot better than St. Anger e.g. or the other Loads. And better than Risk and TWNAH too. And IMO also better than Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings, because the last two records brought the Thrash Metal back to Megadeth, while all albums after Countdown had less and less thrash elements and too much melodic Pop-Rock and were much too radio friendly - whereas TWNAH was just a lame try and endet in a boring snoozefest.
On the other Side TSHA and UA had many great fresh sounding songs with the power and speed which we've last heard on RIP and Countdown. Ok, there were some lame midtempo and melodic stuff, but songs like Sleepwalker, Kick the Chair, Blackmail the Universe, Die Dead Enough, Washington is Next, Amerikhastan have a freshness which was long lost.
Now, Head Crusher is IMO a different Beast, because THIS has now the vibe which was lost somewhere between Peace Sells, So Far So Good and Rust in Peace. E.G. the break in the middle is nearly Slayer like. The opening riffs are as wild as only Warbringer could deliver today. The pop melodies are mostly gone, the Thrash is nearly 100% back. And if Song 9 or so is so great, how awesome will the rest be?
