Is anyone else confused as to why Dead Machine clicks on Opeth threads when he clearly does not like them?
To clear this up for anyone wondering, it's because I really like to argue about stuff with people. Ken, I know it's pointless- it's nigh-impossible to change someone's opinion on the net. But I don't care about that: I just like arguing.

Those bands have a similar style but Opeth produces an entirely different sound than the others and Opeth still does what they do better. Thats my opinion at least.
Care to back up your opinion with statements?

No, not exactly. Similar? Yes. Theres some good soloing to be found there too. It's not like it's just the same riff played over and over. Noodles also has a good point. You are being far too analytical about simple details that MIGHT seem like a detraction to SOME people. This is fast becoming a pointless debate.
Here's why it's becoming pointless: Because you won't acknowledge this as a fact. It IS the same damned thing. There is a two-minute song in there, and then they play it three times. If there are changes, they're so minimal that even the Burzum fan in me doesn't notice them or become interested.

Yes. Yes I am. How exactly do you "flow" into an acoustic part better? Slowly turn down the volume or... Ooo I know! He can announce the acoustic sections with a "WATCH OUT! I'm about to play a dramatic acoustic passage. It will be emotive." I'd buy that shit. They take a theme and create different moods that change when they want it to change in order to fit with the lyrical message. A damn good example is Demon of the Fall.
Man, all I can say is that I disagree with your opinion on Dirge for November.
Flow and mood are integral parts of long songs by bands like Opeth, but Opeth do not manage to preserve mood with their acoustic sections. Ghost of Perdition: the main riffs do not have the same mood as the second acoustic break, for example. Other bands, such as Woods of Ypres, manage to project a variety of moods other than melancholy or sadness of some sort with their acoustic parts, and thus FLOW into different moods BETTER.
