Beseech: Cover Art for "Drama" posted online

Swedish "gothic metallers" BESEECH have posted the cover art for their fourth full-length album, "Drama", at this location. The CD, due on January 26 through Napalm Records, will include a special enhanced portion featuring some "great surprises", according to the band.

The follow-up to 2002's "Souls Highway" was recorded at Studio Mega and was mastered at Cutting Room. The group's first effort since the departure of longtime guitarist Klas Bohlin will feature the following track listing:

Former Angel Dust bassist issues statement

Former ANGEL DUST bassist Frank Banx contacted BW&BK with the following message:

“I would like to let you know, that I officially left the band on Friday, October 24th. this year. Because of unbridgeable personal differences with singer Dirk Thurisch, I've seen no other choice but to leave the band. Also, many so called "fans" in Germany are attacking me because of this decision in a very unkind verbal way in our guest book, what just underlines what I already posted in our guest book in July last year. I will play no more shows in Germany, until... (???) What so ever.

Ayreon name new CD

AYREON mastermind Arjen Lucassen (ex-BODINE, VENGEANCE) has set "Ayreon: The Human Equation" as the title for the group's forthcoming CD, tentatively due in May 2004 through an as-yet-undetermined label.

Among the guest vocalists scheduled to appear on the album are James LaBrie (DREAM THEATER), Devon Graves (a.k.a. Buddy Lackey, DEAD SOUL TRIBE, ex-PSYCHOTIC WALTZ), Magnus Ekwall (THE QUILL), Heather Findlay (MOSTLY AUTUMN), Eric Clayton (SAVIOUR MACHINE) and Mike Baker (SHADOW GALLERY).

Mark Gorman from the VIRGIN STEELE Home Office has posted the following update on the band's official web site:

"VIRGIN STEELE are back in the studio completing the final recordings and mixes on [vocalist] David DeFeis' 'Barbaric-Romantic Movie Of The Mind' ..... the 'Lilith' soundtrack. Cornerstone: New Music Posted Online

CORNERSTONE, the project featuring ROYAL HUNT bassist Steen Mogensen and ex-RAINBOW/current YNGWIE MALMSTEEN vocalist Doogie White, have posted two more short soundclips from their third album, "Once Upon Our Yesterdays", at this location. A total of five songs from the CD can now be previewed on White's web site: "Once Upon Our Yesterdays", "When the Hammer Falls", "Welcome to Forever", "Hour of Doom" and "Man Without Reason".

"Once Upon Our Yesterdays" is on November 17 through Massacre Records.

Lost Horizon add session guitarist

Sweden's LOST HORIZON have added session/touring guitarist Hans Bostrom to the group's lineup. In addition, the band have been officially confirmed for next year's installment of the Sweden Rock festival, set to be held June 10-12, 2004 in Solvesborg, Sweden.

LOST HORIZON parted ways with guitarist Wojtek Lisicki (a.k.a. Transcendental Protagonist) in July due to "personal reasons." The rest of the band will carry on as a five-piece and have no immediate plans to seek a permanent replacement.

UPDATE: Varg Captured After Car Chase!

A day after he failed to return to prison as scheduled following a short leave, Varg Vikernes was captured by the Norwegian police on a highway outside the country's capital.

Vikernes was taken into custody at 12:45 a.m. Monday morning (October 27) after police in Oslo received information from police in Romerike that the fugitive was traveling in a car on the E6 road to Oslo.

"We signaled for Vikernes to stop, but when he didn't, we were forced to box his car in between two police vehicles. There was a was dent [to the car]," officer Vider Hjulstad told NTB.

Varg Vikernes was alone and unarmed at the time of his arrest.

BURZUM'S VARG ESCAPES!

The Norwegian media is reporting that BURZUM mastermind Varg "Greven" Vikernes (a.k.a. Count Grishnack) failed to return after a short leave from his prison in Vestfold, Norway, where the black metal musician is serving a 21-year sentence for the August 1993 murder of MAYHEM guitarist Oystein Aarseth (a.k.a. Euronymous), the burning of three churches, and the resulting death of a fireman. Varg, 30, was supposed to return to the prison by midnight Saturday (October 25) after being granted a couple of days off, but failed to come back in time. The police have no information on his whereabouts.

Kamelot: New album update.

KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood has posted the following update on the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to this year's "Epica":

"I just got back from a whirlwind 3 weeks in Norway and Germany. We have written 5 new songs for the next KAMELOT follow-up to 'Epica'. Here are some working titles that may change on the album: 'March of Mephisto', 'Nothing Ever Dies' and 'Serenade'. The new songs range from HEAVY to fast and we worked on a new ballad. I also met with producers Sascha Paeth and Miro in Germany to talk about things and the guys from RHAPSODY were in the studio. Look forward to their next EPIC!! "

KAMELOT's forthcoming album will be their first for SPV/Steamhammer Records, with whom they signed a worldwide deal last spring. An early 2004 release is expected.
