MORBID ANGEL guitarist Trey Azagthoth has revealed plans to collaborate with THE GATHERING singer Anneke van Giersbergen on an as-yet-unnamed new project. "I really hope and believe that this dream of mine will come true some day," he told Finland's Sonera Plaza. "I'd really like to hear what kind of [end result we could come up with] when my playing and her beautiful singing [are meshed together]. I'm sure we could even create a totally new style of music... but let's see if our schedules coincide and we can find some time [to work on some material together]."

RUNNING WILD frontman Rock'n'Rolf has issued the following statement regarding the group's withdrawal from the Rockwave (Greece) and Gates of Metal (Sweden) festivals this summer:
"Dear Fans, "I am really sorry that I have to tell you that we had to cancel the shows in Athens (June 19) and in Sweden (July 31), but this is a direct consequence of the cancelling of our touring-agency All Access on the 13th of June. VELVET REVOLVER's "Contraband" sold 256,264 copies in the U.S. during its first week of release to debut at No. 1 on next week's The Billboard 200 chart. Meanwhile, the long-awaited sophomore solo effort from KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons, "Asshole", registered a first-week tally of 12,913 to land at No. 86.

DIO: New Album To Arrive In September, First Songtitles Revealed

DIO have pushed back the release date new studio album, "Master of the Moon", to September, according to ElectricBasement.com. The follow-up to 2002's "Killing the Dragon" was recorded at a Los Angeles studio and features lyrics that are are "cynical" and "political", with the music being a mixture of up-tempo and doomy tracks, according to frontman Ronnie James Dio. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Man Who Would Be King", "Living A Lie" and "The End of the World". "Master of the Moon" will be released Sanctuary Records in the U.S. and SPV in Europe.

Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM plan on taking most of 2005 off to write their next studio album, according to their latest newsletter. "[Take our time to write an album is] something we have never done before," said KATAKLYSM vocalist Maurizio Iacono. DREAM THEATER: New Live CD/DVD Set Due In October

DREAM THEATER's three-CD/two-DVD document of the band's April 26 show at Tokyo's Budokan Hall is scheduled for an October release, drummer Mike Portnoy has told Billboard.com. In the meantime, two previously released video collections will be packaged as a double-DVD and arrive in stores July 13 via Rhino Home Video.
"Images and Words: Live in Tokyo" and "Five Years in a LIVEtime", originally released in 1993 and 1998, respectively, comprise the double-DVD containing more than three hours of footage that has been remastered in Dolby 5.1 surround sound.
