11 Jul 2015

EMPEROR frontman Ihsahn (real name: Vegard Sverre Tveitan) has completed the songwriting process for his sixth solo album, tentatively due in early 2016.

Ihsahn spoke about his upcoming CD during an interview with Eternal Terror conducted at last month's Tons Of Rock festival in Halden, Norway. He said: "I would say in 95 percent of cases, [when I am working on a new album] it's all fresh [ideas that I end up using]. This time, it's a bit diferent. There are a few themes from my upcoming album that were, not leftovers, but things that I wrote in the period when I did [2013's] 'Das Seelenbrechen', but that did not fit into that album, but that I, in my mind, [thought] 'This wil fit ...

SOILWORK: Lyric Video For 'The Ride Majestic' Title Track
09 Jul 2015

The official lyric video for "The Ride Majestic", the title track of the tenth studio album from Sweden-based melodic death metal experts SOILWORK, can be streamed below. The CD will be released worldwide on August 28 via Nuclear Blast.

SOILWORK vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid states: "'The Ride Majestic' was one of the first songs we wrote for this album. The intro sets a certain melancholic mood and after that it's all pure melodic mayhem. There's a very epic and anthemic feel to it, which suits the album title perfectly. The lyrics deal with the fear of dying and the art of remaining sane while you're still alive. Not wanting to miss a thing, wanting to embrace every moment, and ...

MY DYING BRIDE's 12th full studio album, "Feel The Misery", will be released on September 18 via Peaceville. With crushing epic doom spanning eight tracks, and featuring the return of original guitarist Calvin Robertshaw to the fold, this is undoubtedly amongst the band's heaviest, darkest, and most majestic works to date, marking MY DYING BRIDE's 25th anniversary in punishing style, with the title track also set to feature as the album's debut video.

SYMPHONY X Releases 'Without You' Digital Single; Lyric Video Available
19 Jun 2015

The official lyric video for the track "Without You" can be seen below. The song has just been released as a digital single via Amazon, iTunes and Google Play.

Comments SYMPHONY X guitarist Michael Romeo: "'Without You' is a bit mellower than the first single, 'Nevermore', with a big chorus and a sweeping feel. I don't know if I would call the track a ballad, but it's a little bit softer, not so much about riff, but more the acoustic and electric interplay. Those two are good single choices, if you will, because they represent ...

IRON MAIDEN To Release 'The Book Of Souls' Double Album In September
18 Jun 2015

IRON MAIDEN's eagerly awaited new studio album, "The Book Of Souls", will be released globally on September 4 through Parlophone Records (Sanctuary Copyrights/BMG in the U.S.A.). It was recorded in Paris with their longstanding producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley in late 2014, with the finishing touches added earlier this year. However, the band decided to delay its release so that vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who was recently given the all-clear from a tumour, would have time to recuperate sufficiently to join in the preparations for the album's launch.

The stunning cover art was created by Mark Wilkinson, who has worked with the band previously, and because this 11-track album has a t ...
