This is the last Anthrax DVD review for now.....promise!!Through Time P.O.V. (Persistence of Videos) was originally released on VHS back in 1990 when Anthrax was riding the wave of success that started with Among The Living and continued with albums like State Of Euphoria and Persistence of Time. The original VHS release of this collection contained all of the videos that the band had done so far as well as a couple of live performances. Cherry Red Films has licensed this from Universal Music and it is now available on DVD.

Classic Anthrax videos for Madhouse and Indians are included here as well as a "performance" style shoot of Antisocial. The videos for Who Cares Wins, complete with its stark imagery of the plight of the homeless in New York City as well as In My World and the Joe Jackson cover of Got The Time from the band's Persistence of Time album are also included. We also get a couple of killer live performances including Metal Thrashing Mad, that was filmed in Germany during the band's first ever European tour back in the mid 80's and I Am The Law, filmed in Philadelphia at the old Philly Spectrum. There's also a rather pointless live recording of I'm The Man that was filmed by various stagehands using only camcorders and edited together. The sound is horrible and overall, it was a complete waste of energy ever putting that one together and including it on this compilation. In between each video, the band members chat a bit about the songs themselves or the experience of the video shoot.

It's nice to see the videos for Madhouse and Indians again as those two are classic!! The live performances of Metal Thrashing Mad and I Am the Law are excellent as well. Other wise, this is another "bare bones" release from Cherry Red Films that offers nothing new over the original VHS release. The packaging is minimal with the track order out of place on the back cover and numerous spelling mistakes with the band member’s names. Charlie Benante's name is spelled "Benate"; Frank Bello's last name is spelled "Bella" and Joey Belladonna's name apparently has 3 L's. This one, the Live Noize DVD and Oidivnikufesin should've been released together as one compilation set much like Iron Maiden did with their "Early Years" DVD set. With each of the three being only about an hour long, it should've been very easy to fit this all into a 2 DVD set and it would've made for a solid release for Anthrax fans. Through Time P.O.V. is a decent collection of Anthrax videos and nothing else. These types of compilations were fine when released in VHS format because videos were much more popular back in the 80's and 90's. But with the storage capacity of DVD and more interest in live recordings, this should've been an add-on or bonus section of a much larger package. If you're considering buying any one of these recent Anthrax DVD releases, be sure that you are aware of just exactly what you're getting with your hard earned money.
