Surprise of the month

Even though you might not have expected it, Mezarkabul is not a newcomer. Actually they are a well established, talented foursome having released three albums under the name of Pentagram.

Founded in 1987, Mezarkabul (Turkish and Arab word brought together as one and the exact translation is "grave acceptance", which means "having no fear of losing" or if you prefer "being alive indeed") are the only rock superstars in Turkey, selling hundreds of thousands of albums in their home territory despite the strong opposition of the conservative Turkish media.

Playing clubs and doing extended tours throughout Turkey along with numerous festivals. When the album Anatolia was released by Century Media in 1997 (their biggest success so far), the band finally got the attention of international media, even though Nuclear Blast had already released Trail Blazer in 1992.

Mezarkabul's singer will reminds you immediately Bruce Dickinson and this Unspoken, released on September 24 2001, is full of oriental influence. The riffs take your soul and the driving rhythm of Mezarkabul make them sound almost like nobody else. As said above, the fact the singer sounds very much like Bruce Dickinson (I am sure it is totally natural), Mezarkabul sound like Iron Maiden, an oriental Iron Maiden. However, Mezarkabul's songs are much more powerful, their riffs much heavier and there is absolutely no relationship to Iron Maiden when it comes to the song-writing.

A very good surprise, full of magical oriental feelings. Mezarkabul delivers a passionate music and confirms again that metal as no boundaries, no frontiers. Hail to Mezarkabul.

One question remains open : why these guys have changed their name ?

Killing Songs :
A magical and oritental heavy metal hour ;-))
