Mark from England asks: "What the fuck is HORSE the Band?"
December Flower from Stockholm, Sweden asks: "Where the hell did you get your name from?"
We were called horse and then a old english woman tried to sue us.
Noodles from BC, Canada asks: "How would you rate yourselves on a scale of Suck to 10?"
Well, you being suck and us being ten I would say twenty.
-Daniel- The Mechanical Hand is HORSE the Band's second release. In which way do
you feel the new album's different to the last one? Did you have a certain objective while recording it? Did the album turn out as you
expected?
Its better, at least lyrically. I spent massive amounts of time perfecting everything I wanted to say and not say and how I wanted to say it. I think the music is more solid too because we got a better drum/bass line-up. I think it came out better than we had hoped at that point but only really sets the stage for whats to come.
-Daniel- How did the recoding process differ from your previous album?
We had somebody who knew what they were doing first of all. we also had more than three days to do it in so i didnt have to do whole songs in
one reckless take.
-Daniel- HORSE The band have been getting a lot of attention recently with the release of this new album. How do you feel about all your hard work finally bringing you into the spotlight?
Its nice I guess. I just wish people would quit assuming I write about Nintendo. I have used three Nintendo metaphors because it amused me be the ignorant universe can't see the fish in the sea.
-Daniel- What is HORSE the Band's artistic goal (if any)? Do you want to give a statement/message through your music or is it just playing for the sake of playing and having some fun?
We want to enjoy ourselves and make music we love. I will say what I want when I want but probably nothing very politically charged because I dont feel like politics have a place in music.
-Daniel- How does HORSE the Band write their songs? What inspires you to create music?
Dave writes things that 'shred'. Erik writes things that are 'fun'. I write things that secretly explore the secrets of the universe.
-Daniel- Apart from videogame soundtracks, which are your musical influences?
We all have differnet influences. Mine are Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Aphex Twin, Duran Duran, At the Drive-In, Nine Inch Nails and
Superman.
MetalNESS from Omaha, Nebraska asks: "Obviously Nintendo had an influence on your music, so my question is, what video game soundtrack you enjoy the most (all game systems included)?"
Probably Mega Man games I guess (early ones). I like the music for Paper Mario when you go on the hill with all the stars falling. Erik loves the original Gameboy World Cup Soccer.
Emmerder from New Jersey asks: "You're often labeled "Nintendo Core" by fans and media. How do you feel about such a classification?" And noodles adds: "Does it get annoying having most people refer to the Nintendo-ish part of your music and ignoring everything else?" -Daniel- I think you should release an album called "Nintendocore" so you can coin the term kind of like how Venom coined Black Metal.
I dont sing about Nintendo. I refer to it three times total. Dont be gay.
T.I.E. from Paris, France asks: "I'd really like to know how you guys feel being interviewed for a Metal webzine & what is your opinion on Metal." Which are your favorite Metal albums?
It's cool I guess. People ask really dumb questions though. [As for the other question] Metallica ...and Justice for All changed my life as a kid. Too bad they blow now.
Jaden from B.C., Canada asks: You're currently touring with The Dillinger Escape Plan and Between the Buried and Me. I'm wondering how that has been, and what you think of these two bands?" -Daniel- Who would win in a fight?
BTBAM are the nicest guys in the universe. HORSE the Band are all major fans of Dan from BTBAM. The Dillinger guys are nice but they kind of avoid us. I think they think we are gay or somthing. We are always having
way more fun than anyone else. Gregg from Dillinger would probably kill all
the bands (with motivation only).
-Daniel- What can be expected from a HORSE the Band live performance?
Laugh hard, rock hard. Rock being the most important.
-Daniel- Recently a man died because he fucked a horse. They didn't specify if it was the animal or the band. Could you clear this up?
Dude, he tried to put his weiner in my ear.
-Daniel- God comes down and each one of you can ask him a question. What would you ask?
"Can you please replace yourself with Superman?"
-Daniel- What can we expect from HORSE The Band in the future?
-Daniel- Due to magical powers readers will do anything you tell them to in this question. Which are your commands?
Get over the Nintendo thing. I love it. You love it. We -SOUND LIKE- it. The end.
