Mustan Kuun Lapset march towards heavy gothic metal continues with their latest single Ikaros, which was a bit predictable given where Saatto ended. Ikaros is now a very much latter day Sentenced metal, a bit gruffer in production, but also based around simple but absolutely catchy melodies, prominent rhythm guitars and watery leads. The trademark dual vocals, higher retches and background rumbles, connect the new Mustan Kuun Lapset with their older material. Ikaros is great in one single take, and there is a definite desire to put it on repeat, which is a trademark of a good single made for radio play. Finnish lyrics are still key, as that is the trait Mustan Kuun Lapset probably will not relinquish no matter what style they play.
