With a name like Dead End Finland you would expect the band to be certainly Finnish and play something no less heavy and dramatic as funeral doom. On the their single from the upcoming fourth album titled Lifelong Tragedy, the collective from Helsinki is situated, however, somewhere between gothic and melodic death metal, playing slower, darker and denser material than they have done in the past, keyboards filling the gaps between guitar notes. The single, for the sake of comparison, sounds like Evergrey with less characteristic and slightly harsher vocals. The voice has a dichotomy in and of itself, mostly singing cleanly, reaching for roughness in a few places.
Pretty catchy, the single is cool to watch along with the video where singer Mikko Virtanen and guitarist Santtu Rosen are laboring to carry a huge chest, only to throw it off the cliff, without revealing as to what was stored inside. Just like the clip possesses intrigue and mystery, Dead End Finland music will be attractive to all those who enjoy “dark†metal.
