Finally the new Moonspell is here. Waited as the return to the Irreligious period, this album is not really near the orange album. But let me reassure you, it doesn't mean it's not an excellent album !

Very far from the very disappointing Butterfly Effect who was far from receiving many good votes, Darkness And Hope is much more melodic and free of any electronic and experimental traces anymore. On the other end the album is more calm than Irreligious. Of course you still find fireball songs like Firewalking who will remind Opium, but most of the titles are ambiants and drives us into a melodic swirl with wonderfull choruses (Darness and Hope, Ghostsong). Our dear Portuguese friends have even written and excellent song in their mother tongue called Os Senhores Da Guerra. The vocals od Fernando Ribeiro alterning between calm and brutal are still adding this very charismatic touch to the band.

A great album that if not the best one, is certainly the most mature. Let yourself fall into the darkness of Moonspell where you might have the chance to foresee a glimmer of hope.
