Album of the month

While I was choosing my "metal diamonds for the year" (coming soon), I was asking myself : metal is back and let's hope it will stay so for another ten years, but can we expect from 2001 to be as good as 2000? After this unbelievable year, I was wondering if there is still place for surprises and good heavy metal songs?

Well, this Nuclear Fire is the answer to my preoccupation. And what an answer! Guys, we couldn't start better this new year. Not only we couldn't start it better, but also good luck to do better. Yes my friends, if Halford or Judas Priest think they are alone in the "heavy metal jungle", I highly suggest them to listen to this ATOMIC bomb. The walls of my room have exploded and Primal Fear have entered in the temple of "Metal Gods" forever with their third attack. When I see some bands already "diving" with the third record (I will not give names here as you know who I am talking about), I can tell you that Primal Fear confirms they are definitely THE German heavy metal band. Honestly, I don't know where to start, what to say, as this is the best heavy metal record I have heard since ages!

The first song, Angel In Black , is a good summary of the whole record : fast, melodic and f**king heavy. But the main explosion comes from Ralf Scheepers, 'cause this guy is the best German singer for me today (with Hansi, Blind Guardian). His vocals are better than ever. You want hate, listen to Angel In Black & Back From Hell. You want melodies, listen to Nuclear Fire & Red Rain. You want sugar, listen to the wonderful ballad Bleed For Me. The way Ralf sing on the beginning of Back From Hell (what a tempo on this song!), makes you realize he should have been the singer of the Priest. Ralf my friend, today you sing as good as Halford (who said better?). This "bombastic buy-or-die record" ends with two hymn called Fire On The Horizon & Living For Metal, just in case you though you were listening to the last Britney Spears :-).

I could write 200 pages, but I am sure you got the picture. Ah yes I almost forgot : Iron Fist In A Velvet Glove is a bonus track. This is a label joke, isn't it? That song is one of the best Primal Fear song and they dare calling it bonus track! Fans of Accept, Judas, Halford or more globally German heavy metal, this one has been recorded just for you. A must and already a classic in your metal collection!

Killing Songs :
They are all ... but Nuclear Fire is the best killing one.
