Surprise of the month

Now there comes a band I never heard of. Is it prog or is it Hard Rock... for me the progressive touch is faint enough that I prefer looking at it as a Hard Rock release. Anyway Vanishing are playing a very good music, reminding me many things, from Asia or Toto to Royal Hunt from time to time.

What's interesting with this Vanishing Point is that I have the impression it is a movie soundtrack CD. Of course it isn't but that's how I feel after the CD stops at the last track, what a nice movie I just saw... you know ? Probably because the music helps me wander in some other place, freeing my soul from our grey world, just like it does for movies or good Star Trek episodes.

The music is a very good balance between guitars and keyboards, achieving a wonderful marriage of melodies and atmospheres that totally conquered my heart. The vocal is superb, very present and touching voice. The Drums... well, they sound quite weird and I'm not sure there is a drummer... maybe a ryhthm box. But it doesn't end there, there's accoustic guitar moments that are really wonderfull, some piano then and there... The music is really rich and very melodic. The keyboards arrangements hold the key to the wonderfull atmosphere this album puts you in.

Impressive band and with imagination to sell ! Everything is balanced perfectly and the production is still blowing my mind far away ! As for the CD artcover, imaginative and original, just like Vanishing Point's music.

If you want to hear something new then I strongly suggest you to check them out. And if you're into Hard Rock / Prog Metal, then you should even hurry up and try this Vanishing Point, although I don't see them vanishing any day soon with such talent. Keep up the good work !
