Surprise of the month

When I review black/death metal bands and criticizes their "conventional" music, I know that this style is not dead. I know from the deepest part of my heart that this metal style needs additional sound (orchestral, piano, violin, keyboard, samples or whatever) to reborn from ashes ... without becoming a betrayal to that style!

Well Thy Serpent is exactly that kind of band. Their music is black to the bones, the voice is death from hell, but the rest of their music is melodic, atmospheric and their orchestration is magnificent. This Death is composed of four songs, one different from the other (fast or mid-tempo, heavy here, thrash there), one better the other.

The future of extreme metal lies in band like Cradle Of Filth, Children Of Bodom and also Thy Serpent. Be innovative, be arrogant, be risky and your music will be beautiful (IS actually). I am fade up with all those "old-school" bands. A new page in the history of extreme metal has been written this year with wonderful records and this Death is one of them. We don't quote MD, but we are talking here of a die-hard record. Don't miss it!
