That's the kind of surprise that I like :), a band I never heard of, no expectations, nothing, then boom ! In your face, unprepared, you receive what can only be described as a blast ! The album starts with a killer song (following a little intro actually), what a song my friends, "Up To The Sky" really takes you there metaphorically speaking of course. The chorus of this True Metal hymn is amazing, the riffs and solo are majestic and that was certainly the best way to catch one's attention. As far as I'm concerned I would have bought the disc right after the first chorus ! But it doesn't end there, the album hold many surpises and will satisfy your greed I'm sure (that is if you're in True/Power Metal of course). Instrumentally speaking I was in heaven, guitars are majestic and the vocal is excellent. The production is very good and certainly suits the talent of these guys. The artwork is strange. Somehow the level of details and there's some proportions mistakes, not to mention the limited style of the drawer (no oeffense) should make the image a catastrophe, but fortunately, the coloring, specifically the flamming colors in the back + the nice original logo saves the day and the overall looks fine, as long as you don't start looking into the details. Last but not least, there's no boring moments whatsoever and since the style vary along with the songs (from ballad, to speed metal, with some power and mid-tempo ones), I don't feel bored when I'm playing the CD many times in a row. If you like bands like Edguy, Headstone Epitaph, GammaRay and other True Metal bands, then this one is a blind buy. Congratulations guys ! |
