Album of the year

"Take an album full of monster metal riffs. Add a good dose of 80s-style arena rock and hugely infectious, stadium-sized choruses with harmonies to match. Blend with splatter movies, theatrics from the Alice Cooper school of rock showmanship, and state-of-the-art pyrotechnics and special effects. Spice with superhero comics and Kiss at their prime… and you might get an idea what Lordi is all about." - from www.drakkar.de. A bit pretentious ?

Well it's not ... because Lordi can be pretentious ! He can be also f**king proud of his music because this is the next big thing.
Read my lips : the NEXT BIG THING. Rock 'n' roll is back. Thanks Lordi !!!

The mastermind behind Lordi is the band’s vocalist and songwriter, also known as Lordi or The Hulk of Hell. The other members are :
- Amen, The Living Dead (guitar, vocals)
- Enary, Mistress Pain (keyboards, vocals)
- Kalma, Kalmageddon (bass, vocals)
- Kita, Jaws of Death (drums, vocals)
all of them wearing monstrous masks and looking somehow like Slipknot.

I am KO after the end of the first spin. Am I dreaming or what ??? It looks like Alice Cooper and Kiss have decided in secret to create a jointed band. I simply don't believe what I have just listen to. This Lordi is a genius songwriter. Only a die hard fan of Kiss could have written such a music - Lordi seems to be the president of the Kiss army in Finland for what I have read. Yeah, a die-hard fan of Kiss - not to stay a die-hard fan of Paul Stanley song-writing spirit - could record such a bombastic catchy heavy rock album. I am smashed my dear readers. Where Andrew W.K. made some noise with just one song, Lordi launches us 11 songs, where 4 or 5 of them are gonna be superhits. Just listen to the singles Would You Love a Monsterman and Devil Is a Loser and you might understand where are coming from all the excitements around Lordi’s debut album Get Heavy.

The idea behind Lordi was born a decade ago, but it saw the light only in summer 2002. Would You Love a Monsterman became a mega hit in Lordi’s native Finland, topping both singles, airplay, video charts and going gold in the process. Released on November 1st 2002 - who said Halloween ? - this rock 'n' roll album has been produced by by T.T. Oksala (HIM, Apocalyptica) and mixed by Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, the Black Crowes). “Rock music has been really serious and boring for a long time. We want to make rock entertaining again. That’s also why we wanted to make an album which drives at full speed from start to finish. We’re too excited to put in any boring bits”, said Lordi. Well my friends, since Destroyer (Kiss) or Bark At The Moon (Ozzy), I haven't heard such a fantastic heavy rock album. Two thumbs up for this masterpiece rock 'n' roll rocket !!!

What can I say about Would You Love a Monsterman ? This is a mixture of Kiss and Alice Cooper best songs. Simply the best song I have heard since I Was Made For Loving You - Kiss ... in case of. Gosh, this song is hunting me high and low, days and nights. It can't leave my brain and I am about to become crazy with this song - please chorus, get out of my head, get out now. And I really recommend you to check the video of this song (bonus track) which is really cool. Devil Is A Loser is another fantastic rock song, where the lyrics could be interpreted as an enormous joke about all these black metal bands and their satanic lyrics. What a catchy and funny song :) These two songs are driving me crazy !!!!

I must also mention Get Heavy - with its Twisted Sister touch - Rock The Hell Outta You - Kiss spirit - Icon Of Dominance - reminding me the best ballad of Ozzy - Not The Nicest Guy, Monster Monster or Last Kiss Goodbye - Alice Cooper is back !!! - Dynamite Tonite or Hellbender Turbulence - dance-metal à la Rammstein. I could also mention Meat Loaf. If he wasn't for Biomechanic Man - why this song ? - the quote would have been 100 !

"More than anything, we believe in strong melodies. If our music reminds people of the 80s, it’s because of our combination of hard rock and timeless tunes. In the past few years, strong melodies have been pretty much absent from rock music. Maybe that’s the reason it took so long to get the band off the ground. I had to wait until the world was ready for Lordi”. I couldn't say it any better. However, the most difficult task arrives now for Lordi : confirm this atomic album ... with the famous second album :)

I am ready for Lordi and so will be the world very shortly. These guys are announced at Wacken 2003 .... another excuse to go there :)
Get Heavy has already reached the top 5 on the Finnish charts, gone platinum, and spawned another big hit in Devil Is a Loser. Judging from first reactions from international markets, it’s only a question of time until the rest of the world falls, too. Remember Kiss or Twisted Sister. This BAND is the next mega big thing on earth. Don't miss them, jump on this record and be amongst the first on this planet to discover the resurrection of Heavy Rock !!!

Would You Love A Monster Man, Could You Understand The Beauty Of The Beast ...

KISS can retire now :))

Killing Songs :
Shall I say it again : Would You Love A Monster Man !!!!!
