To most people Pink Cream 69 is known as Andi Deris' old band. I will admit though when Andi left PC 69 after this album to join Helloween it was the best thing to happen to both bands. Andi brought new life to Helloween and his replacement David Readman was responsible for PC 69's most succesful albums in the late 90's. When Andi was in PC 69 though it was a fun party rock band that is comparable to a German Van Halen, you could put any of the early discs, Pink Cream 69, One Size Fits All, and Games People Play on and just have a damn good time while listening to em. Games People Play is a more serious album than previous works. While there are the typical PC 69 songs like Till You're Mine and ballads like Don't Let it All Come Down there are songs like Face in the Mirror about drug abuse and the wonderful Somedays I Sail about being with friends and kicking back and enjoying life to its fullest. Shattered and the above mentioned Till You're Mine are two of the best cuts from this album. Both songs are meant to be played LOUD. While this album is fairly decent there is some albeit little amount of, filler. Tracks like Still Alive and Dyin' Century are easily forgettable while more killer songs like Keep Your Eye On the Twisted ( a bass driven rocker about keeping your eye out for stupid people in the world that is still played live today) and the AWESOME bonus track A Good Waste of Time keep your attention for the rest of the album. PC 69 might not be every listeners cup of tea however, you won't find high speed double bass, majestic keyboards, or lightning fast dual guitar harmonies, instead you'll find well played melodies, catchy songs, and the totally unique voice of Andi Deris that all come together to form a fine platter of Melodic Hard Rock. If you like bands such as Bonfire, Pretty Maids, or Axxis, it's safe to say you'll like Pink Cream 69. |
