At first I wasn't even going to give this a chance due to the fact that they have a chick singer, but then I read this

Now, I must look into this. I'll post my thoughts after I listen to them.

Au contrare. I'm now going to look into them precisely because they have a chick singer.

Edit: bwaahahaha! The guitarist looks like Ross Noble!

Edit 2: If you like the Corrs, you'll love this. I hate to argue, Mike, but how is this worthy of the tag 'metal'? Within Temptation's heavier.

Yikes!!! Not for me. It is always chick singers that ruin it for me. I wish I could get into them, b/c people keep telling me I'm missing out on so much great music. Oh well. :D

This is not even close to what would have been described as good female fronted band so don't worry. And yes, you are missing a lot of good music that way.

I listened to the clips last night and thought it was pretty good. Reminded me of what Sky Lark does.

I've got a band called Alas playing right now, and they're great. Much better than this, I'll see if I can get some links for y'all.

You could only muster one sentence of criticism?

They have a long way to go until they reach saleable status with this brand of music; listeners will expect angelic perfection and instead we have an uneven ride here albeit with some shiny spots.

I think they need a good, respected producer to tell them what needs to be changed (things like 0.25 seconds of guitars blasting out of nowhere).

That's the biggest drawback of the demo for me. Sure, it's a demo, but there are some annoying quality of sound issues here. Had this been an official label release, I would have ripped it in the review for the sound quality.

Of course, the so-so MP3 files on their site don't make the already questionable sound quality any better.

The sound is very thin due to the mixing of the bass. That was also a problem on their first demo. The vocals sound like they were recorded in someone's basement (not in a sound box), and then not so carefully layered on top of the music. As a result, the vox have a weird echo effect (like singing in an empty, small bedroom), and sound very disjointed from the music. However, I really tried to listen through that, and could tell the singer's voice is actually very good. Also, I do like the arrangements and the guitar work.

Without a doubt, the band has some work to do in order to make this a sellable piece of work. I would be curious to hear what they could do with a proper recording budget/studio, and the guidance of a producer.

Agreed, the singer definately has a powerful voice, and the arrangements are at their core very solid (maybe a bit too simplistic sometimes). So basically they just need some professional help!

Prognosis: I think they have the potential to take metal in a new direction.

Shall we call it MetalCorr?
