They make Burzum look like Crytopsy in technical terms. Their songs are just messy. If I wanted crappily-played thrash I'd go listen to punk.

Yet you can have reasons even triter (triter?) for not liking Opeth. These reasons are good enough for me. I'll turn it around: what's good about Venom?

PRETEND devil worshipping, Mr I-don't-like-black-metal. And there's raw, and there's amateur. Guess where Venom go?

I appreciate their influence, but they themselves do nothing for me. Early Bathory is what you're trying to describe there.

no, early Bathory is über-shite in my book

Venom are good because they're fun too... and they used to put an excellent live show which I'm pretty sure Bathory never did...

Fun does not good musikk make. And one-man bands are notoriously bad at live shows (go on, pull the age ticket on me, see if I care).

Personal taste points me to say that all the things you hate about them endear them to me.

Plus, the songs are great.

Some kid told me this was just a compilation at a show last night! when I have never heard any of the songs before, maybe I'm just a Venom newb!

Does anyone want to hear some of the songs from Metal Black? o_O
