Some of these songs are odd choices. Haha. I don't think I've ever emotionally connected with a really heavy song, but some of you are pulling out some heavy shit! Weirdness.

The whole Kings of Metal album by Manowar. It gives me the rapturous feeling that only true metal can.

Marty Friedman's guitar solo on that one gives me the chills every time. Marty is always good, but he plays like a god on that song.

Sometimes that song make me smile with the beginnings of tears in the corners of my eyes. Weird. Not that I have even a slight emotional connection to it, but ah well.

The very first notes to Ulver's Bergtatt, and the solo in that same song... crazy!

I'm loving this thread. here we go:

Type O Negative - Love You To Death. The "Am I good enough?" part always gets to me... hard... ver very hard.

Dead Can Dance- The Carnival is Over, Ariadne, and In The Kingdom of the Blind... All of those songs are very moving, I'm sure they play Ariadne in heaven or something...

Bright Eyes... It might sound emo but Conor just gets to me. There are few things as amazing as being able to relate to a song, and there are many BE songs that feel like I wrote them. I also love the music. The Digital Ash album, the song From A Balance Beam and the song A Song To Pass The Time always make me feel melancholic.

NIN - Hurt. This song is just amazing, I almost cry when I heard it live last year,,,

Sparta - Collapse. Don't know why, but this one also is a downer for me.

APC - The Nurse Who Loved Me. I have some very strong feelings/memories tied to this one... including life crisis, my ex girlfriend and some of the most stupid things (in a bad, non goofy way) I've done/thought ...

Katatonia - All the Viva Emptiness album... I had a weird day driving to a hospital and the city was all cloudy and grey (like the album art) and I was on the same period as in the above song... Death really gets me thinking and well, when you're driving to a hospital you kind of think of stuff like that... dunno... weird times for me... that year seems almost magical to me...

The Used - Poetic Tragedy... the way he sings the part "he feels alone, his heart in his hand, he's alone" is so EMOtional (hehe) it always gets me.

Coheed & Cambria - Time Consumer. Same as Katatonia and APC, that year was simply different for me, and this song wa spresent all damn year.

Xasthur - Murdered Echoes of the Mind. The atmosphere is so fuckin' depressing I swear it sucks life out of me... I kind of avoid tis one hahahaha.

Burzum - Erblicket die Töchter des Firmaments. Hard to explain... makes me feel old and tired.

And many many more... I'll continue when I get back from Uni...

How about First Prayer and Carnal Malefactor by Deathspell Omega ? I always feel so weirdly scared listening to them. Not emotional but they do touch me in a way.

That whole album freaks the shit outta me.

Anyway...

Dimmu Borgir -- "Prudence's Fall" and "A Succubus In Rapture" manage to touch me.

Nocturnal Rites -- "Still Alive" struck a chord in me as well.

Indeed, the whole album has a very disturbing atmosphere.

I hear you. However, the first part of the album fills me with a feeling of power that few records can manage. First off, First Prayer sets the mood with its odd time breaks, weird chords and backward chantings, it's like the calm before the storm... suddenly, the first riff of Sola Fide I kicks in, and I get even more revved up... by the time the double bass and vocals kick in I'm good and prepared to shamsh things up... then the fast part begins, and I'm baing my head all the way through the crescendo of violence this song is. Then comes Sola Fide II, which is even better... I love the rush this sequence gives me, I can't get enough of it.

And at the last minute of Sola Fide II the guitars and the drums stop, a few words are whispered and then the song blasts in your face "Sola Fide. Sola Deo Infernali Gloria." and I cannot keep myself from screaming these lyrics out at the top of my lungs. One of the best moments of modern day black metal.

That album is a true masterpiece. My favorite black metal album of all time.

Anyway basically any Death's song touches me emotionally mainly because whenever i listen to them i think "Why is Chuck dead? "

Oh man, I have a long list of emotional songs:

Klabautamann - October

Empyrium - Fortgang (second half) and a lot of the cd Weiland itself actually

Antimatter - whole Planetary Confinement cd

The band Pelican in general... because I have memories of my ex (now best friend, who I can't seem to get over... I guess I'm a little emo *shrugs*) and I holding eachother and slowly moving to their music at their show when they came with Opeth

Opeth - Isolation Years

Jeff Buckley - Mojo Pin and Dream Brother but that whole cd "Grace" touches me as well... That ex I mentioned earlier used to sing his songs beautifully to me...

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge kind of sad for me but mostly just brings back memories of when I was younger and life was simple.

Black Sabbath - Solitude

A Perfect Circle - 3 Libras such a beautiful yet sad song

Explosions in the Sky - Look Into the Air

Deftones - Be Quiet and Drive, RX Queen

Team Sleep - Death by Plane, Natalie Portman, Acoustic One

Excuse the some of the emo-ness... but love still hurts  . Oh well. Nothing compared to the pain some of you have been through I'm sure.

That's pretty much exactly the way the record makes me feel!
