Yeah, the subject title is a little lame, but it serves its purpose. Hahaha. What are some songs that just emotionally hit home? Here are some of mine:

"The Bridge" by Queensryche

Man, when this song came out it was at the height of my dad's drinking. Everything in my life was unstable and this song just kicked my ass emotionally. It's actually about Chris DeGarmo's father all of a sudden wanting to get back into his life after Queensryche got popular. The guy was apparently somewhat of a deadbeat dad before that, he was just never in Chris' life. A little different, but the concept of a father not being there just hit home with me. Sometimes, given my mood, this song can choke me up still. :(

"When Love & Hate Collide" by Def Leppard

When I joined the Air Force in 1995 I eventually broke up with my girlfriend, we were young and distance is hard for anyone, let alone kids. We were each others' first...everything, basically. If anyone has been in love and broke up with someone, you were likely an emotional wreck. I was, I didn't know what the fuck to do. I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep, if I saw people kissing on TV all of a sudden the female became my ex-girlfriend and it made me sick. Hahaha. A very shitty feeling, but you learn to deal with it and I don't think I'd ever be that much of an emotional disaster if it happened again. But at that time I was and this is the song that depressed beyond words...and, of course, I listened to it constantly. It made no sense at all. Haha.

"Hold On" by Sarah McLachlan

If you've ever lost a loved one to an illness such as cancer, this song will ruin your day. It's a doozy!

definetly All the Things She Said by TATU. oh man the cruel double standard that persecutes underage fake lesbians makes me SO MAD. I'm glad they stood up against the unfairness of it all. Take that society. YOU GO GIRLS!

Exiles by King Crimson, This Corrosion by the Sisters of Mercy and Close to the Edge by Yes are all incredibly emotional songs with which I have various negative connections.

and this entire Kayo Dot album, I can't listen to it without sobbing. emooo

The End by Dream Evil. And I'm not telling you why, 'cause its too stupid to even conceive of. 8) But I still get a slight lump in the throat when I hear it sometimes.

Dirty Old Town (The Pogues) reminds me of old times in Eire, those were good times (when I was young)

Love Somebody (Robbie Williams) is a sexual happy memories song

Baby Britain (Elliott Smith) reminds me of times before my sister commited suicide...

Angel Tears by Pelican, that first riff really chokes me up... I remember once walking through the park and just watching a bunch of geese and ducks slide around on the ice, and I'll be damned if I wasn't crying a bit for god-knows-what-reason.

Lots of Dead Can Dance songs, particularly How Fortunate the Man with None.

That really long-titled Velvet Cacoon song with Embers or something in its name.

A lot of them are for personal reasons excepting the Pelican one.

God knows why, but whenever I find myself listening to this on a cold, cloudy day, I just can't help but... Shed a little tear. :cry:

"Collapse The Light Into Earth" -- Porcupine Tree

If I could have a song played at my funeral, it'd probably be this. It sounds enough like a hymn already.

EDIT: Both of these songs are some of the most powerfully sobering songs ever when the time is right.

Reminds me of an ex-girlfriend

Rapper's Delight - Redman, and two other guys. It is a remake of the original. Anyway, it reminds me of my buddy who killed himself when we were 16. We listened to it everyday before school, and we would make home videos of us and other friends while it was playing the background. Plus, he would break dance to it. He was a tall uncoordinated white guy, so you can imagine how funny he looked while break dancing. He loved to make people laugh, so it was intentional to look stupid.

Wow, a lot of suicides in this thread. Sorry guys. Especially TIE, I couldn’t imagine losing my sister.

"Man's Road" by America - This sounds a little silly, but it's from the soundtrack to The Last Unicorn, which was one of the movies that I grew up on. I've got a lot of emotional attachment to the movie, and the song describes my mood well when I'm feeling lost and sad.

"Angels" by Within Temptation - When you're a female metalhead and you've had someone reject you, this is the perfect song.

"Am I 1?" by Dark Tranquillity - Resonates very well when I feel out of place.

"Shamandalie" by Sonata Arctica - I lost a very, very close friend of mine last year (she decided she hated me because her boyfriend didn't like me because I wouldn't let him live in our dorm room anymore) and this song describes the situation perfectly.

"Hybrid Blues" by Skyclad - Another song from the situation last year.

Fiddler On The Green: Demons & Wizards

Not sure why it, but everytime i hear it, alot of emotion comes over me

Dancing Queen: ABBA

reminds me of an ex girlfriend....cough, cough...the bitch, cough

Makes me angry, same with evanesence.
