Ambeon and Stream Of Passion are both excellent, but neither are prog in any way.

I hate to disagree with you Eyesore but a lot of Lucassen's stuff is progressive he might not be fully prog but listen to SOP & Star One and you'll see some elements of prog in there.

A lot of his stuff is progressive, Ambeon and Stream Of Passion are not, though.

Yo, nood! Are you looking for a specific band? Like you've heard them and are trying to figure out who it is, or are you just looking for suggestions? Bands you may like?
Looking for suggestions, I was listening to Atrox a few days ago and was like "man this would be cool with a non-annoying singer"

OK, I've been trying to think of a band that you may be looking for. I honestly can't really think of anything that aren't more power metal than prog.

You must be listening to a different album or not hearing it but I hear some prog elements in SOP.

Ask a few people that have the album and they'll say the same thing.

Well, I can pick a few prog elements out of a John Mayer CD. That doesn't make it prog. This is all opinion, I know, but I would never classify either of those albums as prog anything.

Hell even Ian in his review labeled the band Progressive Metal/Ambient Rock

Ambeon I would call ambient rock/metal. Stream of Passion I would call it something like melodic atmospheric metal, or something. I don't hear much prog on either album, not enough to slap that label on them.

I'd say Ayreon is neo-prog, Star One is just neo-classical metal and then Ambeon etc are pop rock.. Star One certain has a lot of extended, epic themes with spacy synths, but that doesn't make you progressive, just pompous.. :P

Noodles, there is this prog. rock/metal band with a female singer called Mastermind. There is a review of their last album on MR.

I personally don't like em, but you'll find that for yourself. But really, after all the posts here the conclusion is that if you want to listen to female fronted bands then you should start listen gothic metal. That is where the majority of bands use chicks and half the bands aren't that bad as people might tell you.

There's a band called Avidost that is like Fates Warning meets gothic doom, or something. Dark progressive metal. They released a demo called A Silent Masquerade and were then supposed to release a CD called Of Greatness Or Madness that was produced by Neil Kernon. They were recording it in 2004, then their lead singer left the band and they haven't been heard from since, and their website is gone.

No idea what happened to them, but they may be what you're looking for.
