Post subject: isn't EP the best format for Black Metal ?

I mean, I think most BM bands should stick with shorter releases (15 to 30mn) rather than boring us with long 60+ minutes pseudo-epic poems about nekro frostbitten grim forests or praising our lord Belzebuth...

so what do you think ?

Depends on the band.

noooo. I like 77 minutes worth of music crammed on to a CD or maybe a double LP.. then again I like the ambient stuff rather than the dudududududu side of things. I don't think 20 minutes is a long enough journey, I'd have to play it four times in a row

Depends.

For more aggressive stuff, 30 minutes is generally the ideal length. But DsO's Si Monumentum..., for example, is almost 80 minutes long and not boring at all!

Nah. Full-lengths allow for conceptually mature visions and idealogies to manifest more clearly.

There are exceptions, like Kenose, but generally I listen to my black metal full-lengths before my black metal EPs.

Oh, and secondly...

Dude, fuck off. Seriously. This isn't funny and we all get it that you don't like black metal. Go listen to Limp Dick or whatever and stay out of the black metal threads if you don't have anything to contribute besides your latest variations on 'black metal sucks!'

With the attention span I got I have trouble listening to things longer than 30 mins but some black metal has a way of hypnotising you. That's how I endure it.

Not at all! I only buy some EPs, prefer longer stuff. If you can fit 80 mintues of music on, why be a tight bastard and only give out 28 minutes?

BUT I'd rather have the full 80 minutes so I can decide for myself what is good, than someone else saying it isn't, and only putting out a bit! Quality's relative to the listener.

exactly the same problem i have. ... but music such as Darkspace and Paysage D'hiver keep my sort of hypnotized. But if the album last 60 min and have great variety it's no problem either.

on the other hand... some times it can be quite annoying if the "albums" are too short, like many 7''s... 7 mins of real good sheize that keeps you begging for more is so fucking annoying..

I happen to like nekro frostbitten grim forests and praising Lord Belzebuth! I say every Black Metal album should be 80 minutes, just to piss you and Ken off!

I think Belzebuth is french for Baphomet... 8)

and I kinda liked the art (except for the french horn indeed which kinda ruins everything)
