Seeing as to how Coldplay is fairly similar in style to Radiohead (whom I'm a fan of), I thought I should give them a shot. So what's the general consensus of them?

Miss, ten thousand times MISS.

I'd kill Chris Martin myself given the chance.

Bland, pedestrian, safe, overhyped, self-important, deluded garbage.

neutral to me. not sure about the radiohead comparison.. maybe they're radiohead without the experimentation or quirks.

"We Never Change" from that Parachutes album is a damn good song in itself.

Also neutral. Some awful songs, but the occasional pleasant one. Certainly would never get an album though.

They have nothing to do with Radiohed.

I still like Parachutes though...

HIT

3 albums full of inspired pop songs...

I don't think many metalheads can love it but the more open-minded among us will, at least, admit the talent of those fellows...

and, Seinfeld, they're close to Radiohead in the sense that both bands play their kind of aerial, not too radio oriented pop... but Radiohead are, imho, a more intersting/experimental band than Coldplay... it would be more accurate to compare Coldplay to Travis or REM and Radiohead to Muse or Porcupine Tree...

No. The only thing of talent Chris Martin ever did was to pull Gwnny.

Coldplay makes me wonder about the state of the world we're in.

You know, how it's such a miserable shit-hole that a band like them could possibly sell over five million records by simply rehashing Pablo Honey and The Bends.

There's no close-mindedness in my statement, they're awful. The keyboard melodies are simple and plundered from other songs. The ballads are devoid of feeling, heart, or soul. Chris Martin is a juvenile lyricist who writes intellectually bankrupt trash and can't emote for shit.

There's nothing to like about them. I hope they OD on heroin in the middle of a Starbucks, the hipster fucks.

You're either severely delusional or... actually, severely delusional works fine.

Surely Radiohead are light years ahead of both Muse and Porcupine Tree, but that's another thread entirely...

imho Muse are growing better with each album... at first I thought they were just Radiohead clones but I was proven wrong... I have great expectations now...
