Regarding Lars' drumming post-RtL, I've heard that Dyer's Eve has three seperate drum tracks because he just couldn't play it all at once. So let's review:
-can't play drums
-can't write music (despite what the writing credits would have you believe)
-is a complete ass.

How the Hell has he stayed in the band this long?

actually Metallica used a session drummer for the dificult parts on the Ride The Lightning album... it might have been the same on MoP & AJFA but I can't tell for sure... he may have had some professor telling him how to drum properly... :twisted:

well, Lars will always deny but there had been witnesses such as Abbadon (of Venom's fame) and some reporters who saw that while visiting Metallica recording RTL... and at this time, no one thought Lars was an asshole yet so there was no reason to pick at him...
but considering the cheap recording budget Metallica had back then it kinda make sense to use session musicians to get faster through the process... I know a lot of metal bands (Warrant amon others) did that in the 80's, maybe they still do...

Well, to be quite honest I've always thought he was a pretty bad ass drummer. I think he's done some of the best fills in metal ever, or some session drummer did. Hehehe. I don't know. I'll assume it's a stupid rumor until I get proof that isn't some "he said, she said boooolshit!"
