Post subject: Favourite SciFi TV Series
PostPosted: Sat Jan 07, 2006 8:49 am
I really into scifi and there are some good series currently on TV. Favourites include Battlestar Galactica (wow), Stargate Atlantis, Threshold, Surface, Smallville.

Older series I'm also watching are Startrek Enterprise, Farscape.

Anything else you guys like or can recommend?

season 3 and 4 of Babylon 5 were pretty good. I don't know if that gets repeated or anything any more. I don't like the soap opera style star trek shows but B5 got my attention.

I watched a lot of Farscape when I was in the UK, good show, sad that it was cancelled. I did just watch Serenity and thought it was an excellent movie so I may go an watch the Firefly series, which I heard was equally as good.

I remember V from when I was younger, great show then, not sure how it would stand up in 2006. Other than that, from what shows I've seen they just seem a bit cheesy.

You have to watch the new Battlestar Galactica. It is really amazing with great acting and fantastic special effects. Blew me away!!

Yeah I forgot about V, I remember it was really scary when I watched it at that time.

I forgot B5, it also is one of my favourites.

Farscape & Babylon 5

Also, Stargate SG1 is great IMO, if it counts.

Currently it's Battlestar Galactica I'm also getting into Surface on NBC.

In the past it was:

V
The original Battlestar Galactica
Knight Rider
Babylon 5
Andromeda
All Star Trek shows(except the first never really got into the first one)

Babylon 5
Farscape

Firefly is ok, certainly better than most of what's on tv in general.

Firefly was a most excellent show and just like many most excellent shows nowadays(Gregg The Bunny for ex.) it bit the bullet way to early. I think my all time fav has to be the allmighty MST3K.

Firefly wasn't excellent; it was good, but no more. It probably got ganked because it was too expensive to shoot. I can't imagine what all those sets must have cost, plus the cost of shooting on-location. Yeesh.

MST3K, on the other hand, was a truly excellent show. I covet the DVDs.

Did you see Serenity? I thought it was very good, I haven't seen Firefly, but I'm kind of hoping they release another movie.

Yep. Serenity was a decent movie, but not deserving of the rabid fandom that's sprung up.

I think it serves itself well up against the Star Treks and whatnot. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the greatest sci-fi film of all time or anything, but it's definitely one of the best I've seen in a long time.

Farscape was bloody great! I used to watch it with my dad, but it's not on any more, Star Trek is good for when I'm knackered (therefore not really paying attention), Stargate sg-1 when it occasionaly has some action and the old Doctor Who (only good when the monsters where men in suits made out of various household items etc.)

I dont know, I do not watch many new tv series and although I love Sci-Fi I find most Sci-Fi shows to be total crap. Maybee thats why I enjoyed Firefly so much.I guess maybee the western theme had a big hand in my interest for it too.

And Azreal MST3K was a show that ran for a while in wich a guy and two robots watched old cheesy Sci-Fi movies and cracked jokes about them the whole time. Its humor is a tad odd but you may actually like it.

Crow T. Robot ist krieg!

Bah, Firefly sucked. Too much western, too little scifi.. Maybe a little cyberpunkish edge would have made it better?
