Keeper 1 vs Keeper 2

BTW,i take Walls of Jericho and the Helloween EP over the Keepers anytime!Kiske is a very talented singer but he sounds too"friendly" to me for a metal singer;i prefer Kai Hansen,he sounds evil and insane,and that's what i expect from heavy metal!If i want to hear something "friendly" ,then i'll listen to some Stevie Wonder!He sings way better than Kiske(imo)!

Glad to hear Helloween is playing Bucharest!(who's the opening act?) I thought there was not anymore an audience for this kind of music in Romania.That proves the "Manele" did not totally take over!

All of Helloween's music sounds "friendly" to one degree or another. Even on the (decidedly) bleaker The Dark Ride. Actually, one of the most unique things about Helloween is that they're one of the few "fun/happy" metal bands.

Agreed, and i also think that Walls Of Jericho is better. i dont know about friendly but i found Gorgar very funny.

Well, I actually haven't seriously listened to Walls Of Jericho so may be I made a bit of a blanket judgement. Let's just say that the majority of Helloween's music from 1987-present sounds "friendly."

I kinda see what stub's saying - there were certainly 'wacky' songs on Walls of Jericho, but the overall sound was much harsher, mainly because of Kai's nasally (but brilliant) vocals and the thin production.

I think people go on too much about how The Dark Ride was a lot darker than the other Helloween albums. I mean it is to an extent (some songs more than others), but if the title and album cover were different I don't think it would be said as much.

Keeper 2 is the winner. Consistently better, though Halloween does beat Keeper of the Seven Keys.

Agreed. Although, truthfully, I did find most of the songs on TDR to be more serious and crunchy than on previous Helloweens. The only real "joke song"was Mr. Torture, and even that was given a slightly harsher sound thanks to the more abrasive guitars. Then we get to Escalation 666 and Mirror Mirror, which are probably two of the most serious songs Helloween has ever written. The "happiness" factor does pick up again on songs like Salvation. But for the most part, The Dark Ride's music does have a more serious and heavy sound than other Helloween records. You could almost call it "The happiest 'sad power metal album' ever released."

Keeper 2 is a too big influence of Edguy to be taken completely seriously (still better than 99% of the PM scene though)

... there will be probably some local act opening for them...but I want to see a 3 hour Helooween concert. They stated that they'll play all three epics (no Occasion Avenue :( )..so it's possible...have to check out some concert reviews of the present tour... it would be a dream come true after seeing Maiden/ Gamma Ray in Budapest/Hungary and Dream Theater in Bucharest in 2002.

@Eyesore: TOTG turd?????? We got the right ?...some of Kiske's finest moment (I always play that song to showcase kiske's vocal ability (to non-metal listeners, it's more appropriate, a slower song)...and RoF it's very catchy, tounge-in-cheek lyrics...do you LIKE helloween?

I know you do...but these are some fine songs . Well beauty lies in the eye of the beholder...

Part 1 definitely. It's more concise, consistent, and has better songs. Part 2 is overlong and has several songs that I just can't get into. Rise and Fall and Dr. Stein for example. And I still don't get why people like I Want Out so much, it doesn't do anything for me. Still, 2 has it's moments. Eagle Fly Free and March of Time are outstanding, and of course the epic title track. But there are a lot of mixed songs, We Got the Right for example, starts strong and then just goes nowhere. Save Us is alternately excellent and lame, uneven much like the album itself.

I might actually prefer 3 over 2, but Daris still has nothing on Kiske, so much so that I have to condition myself into enjoying Helloween sans Kiske.

Oh, and Helloween wins over KOTSK. Though the latter is 13:37 long so says my winamp, and that has to count for something.

No support act confirmed for our bit of the tour yet. Of the two that look most likely I'm hoping for Primal Fear but I get the feeling that it'll be Axxis.

It'll end up being some shite like Mendeed. :x
