Eheh, I sense a hefty discussion is at hand.

Good thing Opeth themselves think their video is rubbish. I hope they realised the stupidity of signing with a (censure) metal label.

The new material's growing on me. I can forgive them for signing to FaggayposeruntrveRunner.

I think they are learning that it doesn't pay to be too laid back about everything.

Ha! Right from the first time I'd watched that abortion I guessed the band had little to zero say about how they wanted it look like.

Hey, at least for once the video of a song matches the song perfectly.

I know you can communicate quite well without silly little images, and so you should.

It's beneath you, Rio.

I could explain myself, but I'm not going to. I will say that I never use "fag" or "gay" unironically.

And the song's quite good, Aaron. Stop being an elitist.

I'm not an elitist, Opeth just suck.

You have no taste. Listen to Still Life and tell me that's not one of teh best buildups you've ever heard.

And you should love them, Michael Akerfeldt's got the same crappy moustache as you. (I know I said this before)

I've already listened to Still Life. It has one decent song (Moonlapse Vertigo, my favorite Opeth song) and then a bunch of meandering filler. I've heard better buildups come out of my ass right after Mexican food.

Yes, but I have an excuse for it and Mikael does not.

Allow me to make an observation. You seem to set your sights too high, calling Opeth meandering filler, moaning at Nile for not living up to your standards...What makes something good in your eyes?

And what's your excuse?

Let's see... for death metal, I'll take either innovation and supreme mind-blowing technicality, or plain good riffs with a sense of energy.

For Opeth-like music, a defined path that it's traveling down, not 2-minutes-of-this-4-minutes-of-that-2-minutes-of-this-oh-look-its-over bullshit.

I am young, and cannot grow anything more than this shit-mustache. Mikael is 30 or older, I think.

But what's wrong with that? I like them purely for the songs, I don't rate them as you seem to. And of course there's a path, a couple of listens and you should see it. Same for new Nile, can't you just accept they are good songs without going on about their impact and not being progressive enough etc?

Oh please, now you're going on with the 'you just haven't listened enough' card. I've heard ramblings from the baglady on the corner that were more cohesive than any random Opeth song.

The new Nile is the same, same, same stuff they've already done. The songs aren't good, the riffs bore me more often than not, and I've heard it all before. It has no sense of energy. The technicality is matched by any number of other bands.

It's no good, Zad.

That's part of the problem - they haven't actually written a "song" since, say, Blackwater Park. they're practically covering themselves at this point, just rehashing their old stuff. Many bands do this and a lot of them seem to be getting away with it! :P

Not what I meant. But anyway, I know when to quit.

I'm trying desperately to think of another band you like that makes similar albums and can't do it, so I'm going to bow out now.
