Deep Purple
Uriah Heep
Judas Priest
Scorpions
Thin Lizzy
Black Sabbath
etc...

all awesome bands that influenced the scene and still do ! :D

I prefer the 70s prog scene to the hard rock scene. Although I suppose distinctions weren't made until later..

hails to Black Sabbath's first five, anyway.

Oh, sure, I've never heard of any of those bands. :roll: Black Sabbath's the only one I don't like.

I realise that they were all very influential, but so what? You've said things like this before, everyone knows the 70s came before the 80s, and therein lies the roots of metal. Why yet another topic saying how great 70s rock was (and not in the Hard rock section!)?

you should try Black Sabbath when Dio was with them in early 80's.

you should try Black Sabbath when Dio was with them in early 80's...

...and then notice that, even with a better singer, Dio's Sabbath was not up to Ozzy's Sabbath ! :P
