a lot of doom is somewhat less than popular, but you should be able to find these three:

Candlemass -- Candlemass
Isis -- Panopticon
November's Doom - The Pale Haunt Departure

I'll work up to Epicus, everyone knows it's due classic status.

I've also seen the new Reverend Bizarre sneak its way into a few stores.

Your stated musical direction is very encouraging.. I don't think I could take another mainstream reviewer.

Good to finally have a doom reviewer here.I'm sure you'll do a great job lizardtail...or Dee. Now all we need is someone devoted more to the gothic genre and the reviewers team will be complete.

I see, I own no other doom but I shalt have a look on the shop's websites now and reply back...

HMV has all three. I listened to some samples from the Isis album and it didn't sounded metal related at all, perhaps you could describe their sound to me?
And why the hell are ALL of the Candlemass "try these" things Judas Priest?

Earlier Isis is more "metal". Try "Celestial".
Try Confessor as well:

isis is atmospheric sludge. delightful description, no? It's closely related to post-rock so it's certainly not headbanging metal. Candlemass = riffs. Novembers Doom = growls, romance.

and yes, Eyesore, don't let me tread on your reviewing toes. I already know what I'm reviewing for the next couple of weeks anyway.

In looking at this website, HMV has a good selection of doom.

I would recommend the following three CDs:

Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus
Reverend Bizarre - In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend
Sleep - Sleep's Holy Mountain

Glad to see you made it, Dee. You make us King Crimson fans proud! As always, listing Bergtatt as a favorite gets high marks from me.
