What's a good album to start with? Nearly got Scythia before, but held off...

EDIT: Not sure if it was Scythia, all their albums look the same to me. All trees, etc.

Yeah, all their covers look awesome! I recommend Purity, Scythia & Battlefields.

Well, they aren't called Hate Cactus.

I like everything by Hate Forest, every single thing, but I recommend Purity first.

Sorrow is a good one to listen to when you heard all their previous records. It is indeed a great "farewell".

You can start with Battlefields or Purity then try Scythia and The Most Ancient Ones (if you're interested to find out how the remastered demo The Curse from TMAO sounded at first the get To Twilight Thickets, plus this release also contains a never before released ambient demo by HT). Then continue to Nietzscheism (if you are lazy to collect those EPs one by one) and, as I said before, finish your familiarization with the band with their last opus - Sorrow.

I'll say Purity first (like the everybody else) then move on to Sorrow. I haven't heard anything from Hate Forest that I didn't like (except their name.. Hate Forest  ) so in my opinion you can't go entirely wrong no matter where you start.

Enjoy it... I haven't been listening to it (among many other records) for a long time now, because I'm still without a turntable at home, and 50% of my Hate Forest collection I only own on vinyl :(
