Nearly started a topic myself, but found this one, so...

Fucking love them. Gorgeous stuff. The new album sounds good (EX MEMBERS OF HAWKWIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!) , track number 1 on new Terrorizer CD (much better than last months'). Brilliant, brilliant band.

BTW, what did you think of the Black Funeral on that CD?

The new track is probably my favourite I've heard of theirs, but that's a shame because to me it also seems to be one of their more "conventional" ones. Some of their other, more out-there psychedelic stuff is the kind of thing I want to like, but so far it's never really drawn me in, you know? Some of the lead guitar playing can sound kind of weak as well, which is a big minus for me.

Well I shall revisit them... My opinions have been swinging about alarmingly rapidly recently so who knows?

Do so. They're on www.darksoul7.net , which is a damn good site for checking underground shit out, as I've told you. The guitars can seem a bit simplistic, but it works well overall. Def. one of the most experimental BM groups out there.

Ooooh.... I wasn't paying attention and just assumed you were talking about the Meads track.... But I'm with you now. Black Funeral... Now that is a nice guitar tone :D Weird riffs, no? Almost sounds as if some one is just modulating the pitch of one consistent tone on a computer. The simplicity of the rhythms they are using is really striking. Cool!

EDIT: Was listening to "Bound alive" and "Assault and Battery"... I really don't like these... sounds almost as if they had only just invented the concept of synth + distorted guitar. But some of it works much better: "Neurodeliri" sounds like the perfect synthesis of Hawkwind and BM in harmony :D

Hawkwind are awesome. I keep meaning to get an album, but always get distracted by something else...
And yeah, Black Funeral are good. I like 'em much better than Darkthrone, say, good stuff.
